Washington state last month had to publicly admit that they had claimed 62 deaths to COVID when it wasn’t that at all. They were from drive-by gang related shootings. Yep, that sounds like COVID 19 to you, I’m sure. Go ahead and believe all the pablum being spoon fed to you.

Illinois is up front about their over-counting of COVID deaths.....the top health official is clear that if anyone dies and they have any COVID symptoms, it’s a COVID death, and if someone dies of anything and they have COVID its a COVID death.

Maybe you haven’t been watching the news recently, the states I mentioned are in the top 5 for rapidly increasing number of cases and hospitalizations, and each has a Republican governor who favored early reopening and fewer restrictions. My point wasn’t that the virus is more prevalent in a Republican led or democratic led state, it was that the party doesn’t matter, EXCEPT where the state’s policy on prevention and mitigation is concerned. We have a rapidly increasing rate here in NC. We have a Democratic governor who has fought to keep reopening on a moderate pace and a Republican legislature that wants everything opened ASAP. I’d note that some governors who initially pushed for early reopening of everything are now publicly admitting that they’d make a different choice if the had it to do over. The facts are those areas with high population density, states or cities, are naturally going to have a higher rate of transmission, but local policies do have an effect.

Now on a National level, it’s a different story. Sadly, we have done a lousy job as a country in containing this compared to others like Canada or South Korea - pretty hard to deny those statistics. And it’s also pretty difficult to deny that we were slow to act, while POTUS was stating that the virus “would just go away like magic”. And even now, rather than modeling the leadership that the medical community advises, our president still doesn’t wear a mask and insists on rallies and a packed convention in closed spaces with no masks. Because of that, and NC’s insistence on distancing and masks, the Republican Party moved the convention to FLA (thank GOD), who, now in the midst of a huge increase, likely due to early reopening, is actually going to require masks at the convention.

The point is that this shouldn’t be politicized in any way - pro Democrat OR Republican (there’s plenty of blame and pain to go around to everyone) - it’s a MEDICAL issue, and my response to you was to point that out after you tried to make it one.

I have always believed that ignorance and stupid interpretation of information are equally distributed between the political far right and left. Looking at COVID-19 related behavior and commentary, I now see that the right wing non-thinkers are the clear winners in the race to show the most ignorance and stupidity....

You guys really are conspiracy nuts. Virtually everything you say has been repeatedly “debunked.” I think we can all guess where you get your news. Look at the latest numbers to find out where the hot spots REALLY are. Deathcamps? You must be a “Q” member, right?

I know exactly what you said.... and you conveniently were ignoring the entire set B of numbers to make a lame political statement. You are a complete hypocrite.

I noted you left out Cali in your condemnation (hmmmm.. because it’s blue and liberal?), and you ignore several facts, not the least of which is that the statement “increasing cases” is meaningless by itself,

Increasing from what base? Positive test rates? Ventilator use? Death rates per 100,000?

You also conveniently left out the fact that these states had been open for awhile but the spiking came AFTER protests and riots, the fact that this spiked is concentrated in ages well under 40, and that these two points may be related.

People with brains expected these increases, and that’s why the task force gets 2x daily updates by country & city, that’s why the CDC has teams in every state, and the ONLY way to maintain an economy during such emergencies is by testing the limits at C each stage.

YOU have politicized this from the beginning.... hell, just read you r post above! Got irony!

Let me repeat......,

State death rates per 100,000:

Fla. 16
Tx. 8
Az. 23
ND. 10 (special note: ND never closed down)

Now, for the REAL story......

NJ. 169
NY. 165
CN. 121
Mass. 117
RI. 90
D.C. 78
Il. 55
Maryland. 53

Do you even understand numbers? Your comments indicate a high level of ignorance.

Question for you..... what’s worse, a death rate that increases 25% from 8 to 10, or one that increases 5% from 10,000 to 10,500?

I will end with asking “ WTF can you buy with a percent?”

ALL of which could have been avoided by a rapid, dedicated response from our government leaders. BTW, your stats are skewed. The only important stat is transmission rate, infections vs. hospitalizations vs deaths. Once Texas, Arizona, & Florida 'reopened', a severe spike in infection rates occurred in those states. That's what's significant.

Your proposed "real story" is just Orange Kool Aid propaganda. And rest assured, nobody with common sense that can separate fact from fiction is buying your bovine feces.

No, you politicized it first, and I responded to you. You are missing the message, which is: the virus has nothing to do with politics except to the extent, that in general, the leadership of our country has not implemented or modeled an effective response. If you’d like to rely on numbers, publish the deaths per capita of South Korea or Canada and then defend the administration’s response (if you can do that in the context of a respectful conversation and leave out the ad hominem attacks which are always an indication of a weak argument). While you’re at it, use numbers from hospitalizations rather than deaths (which is a trailing indicator) or new cases (which is affected by the number of tests).

I agree completely. We are in a war against an invisible enemy and the only weapons we have are common sense & ramped up hygiene.

It's nice to see a post with some REAL factual info. Reading these posts from deniers is like listening to fingernails on a chalkboard.

We also have science. Unlike belief systems, science is self-corrective. One major self-corrective principle in all sciences is replication, which means that experiments or studies are repeated by different scientists. Consistent results strengthen conclusions, whereas inconsistent results weaken confidence. This is why I listen carefully to what our scientists and physicians advise, even when their advice may change over time based on the acquisition of new knowledge. The accusation that scientists lie is hollow and a misunderstanding of science as a process. Frank
