The two channels?

With Spectrum I had to pay for the extra packages in order to get some of the sports channels I wanted. That's why You-Tube TV appealed to me: they have every sports channel I watched (for college basketball) except Pac 12. This thread will probably talk me into re-enlisting in December

Out of those that are being added

Not happy about this. Going to shop around for a better deal.

I’ll probably go back to watching TV through my antenna and getting something like an HD homerun or a TiVo to record over the air. And not pay for cable or DIRECTV or YouTube TV anymore.

Nothing of interest to me. Sad news.
I agree, sad news. I signed up with YouTubeTV when Dish Network raised their price early this year. I have zero interest in the new additions to their schedule. It wouldn't be so bad if they had included The History channel and ION. But now they still have the option to add those channels and increase the price another 30%.

My daughter has HuluTV which has similar offerings as YouTubeTV. I will have to look into that one. Lucky for me is don't give a diddly squat about watching sports on the TV.

When I cancelled yesterday (from my "paused" status) You-Tube reminded me I can do a share with friends. In my area they have a large area for sharing a subscription; doesn't have to even be same zip code.

I did try that last summer; if you set it up correctly, each user has their own log-in and preferences. Maybe I'll revisit that plan. Thanks.

Yes, I got that message yesterday. None of this networks makes a difference to me.
Still, I’m saving lots of $$$ over Optimum.
Don’t forget to get your own modem & router.

Modem is included in the $70/month Spectrum internet service. Supposed to be up to 100 mbps and I've seen it pretty high in the past. Right now shows under 50. All the people out of work because of covid?

I do pay $5.00/month for "wi fi service." I'm using their router and I think I'd have to pay that $5.00 either way, but can double-check. Thanks!

I am also not interested in the channels that are being added to "sweeten" the sour taste of a 30% price increase. My first impulse from their email on 30 June 2020, was disgust for a 30% price hike during a pandemic and the worst economic condition since the Great Depression.

My first take after a quick analysis of competing services has me thinking that YouTube TV is still a pretty fair deal in comparison. I subscribed primarily because of the number of sports channels that are included in the basic subscription and do not require another tier of service from, as example, Comcast. For instance FS2 and CBS Sports Network are included but were not included in my previous Comcast tier of service. Also, YouTube TV does not pile on fees like HD fee, Broadcast Fee, Cable Box Fee (for each TV), Regional Sports Fee, et. al. Also, there is no contract or penalty to cancel or pause.

My ideal format would be a streaming service that allowed consumers to custom tailor subscriptions on a strictly "ala carte" basis, channel by channel without forcing paying for numerous unwanted channels because some "suits" think they know what people want to pay for. If a channel succumbs to lack of subscription interest, then it probably doesn't need to be in the game.

What I find extremely interesting is that YouTube TV must be swamped with complaints from subscribers about the price increase. When clicking on the "help" icon, the first thing that popped up was an announcement that they are experiencing very high customer contact volume and they offer as a convenience a "form" to fill out and submit for feedback on the price increase. Apparently the "form" is being utilized so much that I have been unable to submit it yesterday and thus far today, the next day. After clicking "submit" I receive the following: "There were problems sending your form. Please try again." So it appears that the Google servers cannot handle the consumer feedback. If they only knew of a reliable data service company that could handle their communications! (note: sarcasm intended).

Hulu TV has a similar channel lineup - a few less channels. The price is less than UTube TV but the number of simultaneous users is limited to two, and if you use their DVR service (UTube is unlimited, HULU is 50GB), you have to pay $9.95 per month extra to be able to skip commercials on recordings. You can buy it separately or bundle with HULU which includes Showtime and the price again depends on whether or not you’re willing to pay to skip commercials.

My precursory look at Hulu is favorable. I think YouTube TV allows more concurrent streams and DVR capability. I am seriously looking at Hulu as a possible solution to saving about $10 per month. Hulu is definitely the alternate contender for me.

Agreed.. I can see that if they keep going with this approach, pretty soon their price will be the same as the satellite service I just quit.

I just checked that last evening. I can pay $24 and get no channels I want, lol. Not even ESPN was included. I do get the four local networks (and their little digital-age-born offshoots of ancient re-runs) quite well via a $28 antenna that looks like an oversized mouse pad and sticks to my wall

Chris, do you know that it has never been called U-Tube? I read a funny article about the company with that name that went through some pain with their website when You-Tube started up

Is that not how it always is?
Other providers have good low deals but the channels are the ones no one watches.

Yeah. And interesting to hear about your attempts to reach them.

Yeah, me too. Someone else in the thread here mentions satellite costs, but those (and cable) could - and likely will - go up also.
