But you notice they are not reporting Death Rates, so there is no good comparisons.

‘Death Rate’ is not meaningful unless we know actual ‘Infection Rate’, and we can never know actual ‘IR’. Actual measured ‘IR’ is high in much of US, so any US resident has such a high likelihood of being infected that EU has high reason for not allowing them. I suppose the other option would quarantining Americans for two weeks or more - note that ‘quarantine’ would be ineffective if American had any direct physical contact with ‘native’ contact if that ‘native’ contact had any direct physical contact with another ‘native’.

Just my opinion but;
Until America becomes serious about fighting this thing other countries would be dumb not to at least quarantine all Americans.
We have over 30% of the world cases, over 25% of the deaths but only 4% of the worlds population.

I watched the ex fda head this
Morning . He noted that after New York issued a stay at home order it still took three (3) weeks for hospitalizations to start dropping.
So in those states that botched the reopening even if they issue stay at home orders it would be three weeks and they are not doing that. the worst is certainly yet to come.

Given our form of government I think the only hope is that the large retailers ( Walmart, grocery stores and drugs stores) must adopt a no mask/no entry rule.

Mask and social distancing are our only weapons we have until there is a vacine next year.

Until then other countries would be stupid not to ban or at least quarantine Americans .

What makes any of us think we will have a vaccine by next year. While we are all hopeful, we should temper that with some caution that it is still rather unlikely that a SAFE and effective vaccine can be developed, tested, and manufactured in sufficient quantities by next year. By the way, are you willing to be one of the “guinea pigs” for testing such vaccines? Are you willing to be a user of the vaccine the first year or two of its’ availability (if and when)? How many Americans will accept and use it? More and more people refuse to have their children vaccinated with time-proven vaccines. How many people refuse to obtain flu shots? Discouraging, but very real issues and concerns, I believe.

These are very reasonable questions. I should mention {again} that early in my school life, I was part of the polio vaccine test. I turned out to receive the placebo, but my parents were willing to trust their pride-and-joy {I was their first-born} to the medical establishment and this new experiment.

Now, to answer your questions in reverse order:

3. Both of our daughters have been married in the past eighteen months. We do not yet have any news of grand children, so I do not have any expectation of our family’s involvement in having children vaccinated.

2. As far as I am concerned, I will receive a vaccination as soon as one is available for me to receive.

1. Dr Fauci has expressed the hope that a vaccine will be available with the next six to eight months. Modern medicine has made wonderful strides, so I believe that is possible. I’m not sure what else I can say.

Great answers and perspective.
My comments based on history and what I see in the population these days. I am somewhat afraid of new vaccines, especially ones that get rushed to market. Will the testing be thorough or thorough enough to be safe? I am really concerned that in the rush for a “silver bullet” we won’t have thorough enough testing that will allow for safe dissemination. Manufacturing can be very slow. I still remember drugs for other issues that ended up causing birth defects. If memory serves me correctly, that was Thalidomide. I will not be having children, but others will. What other dangers might be lurking is a worry I have.
Dr. Fauci means well, but how much of what he says these days is pre-approved by Government “censors” and how much intimidation is involved in shaping what this otherwise great Dr. can and will say? Is he trying to thread the needle with his remarks? Maybe soft-peddling the info he provides keeps him from being fired. We live in an era where I no longer find much to believe in and with any statements made by any Gov’t. representative or spokesperson. I try, but believe very little anymore.
Your answer are great and I have appreciated a your comments all along. Please keep’em coming.

Costco was an early adopter of "no mask, no entry" And, I, feel safer shopping at Costco than any other grocery or chain store that I have seen (at this time).

I think you folks south of 49 have far more to worry about than a vaccination

In my opinion
