Love those photos. I last visited that canyon as a 12 year old boy in 1950. I was terribly impressed by how narrow and deep this canyon was. Always wanted to go back, but never did.

If you're not there at the right time and right place, more so than most places, you will contend with shadows that present contrast problems. You, obviously, successfully dealt with that challenge. Good job!

Nice to see that awesome canyon again. I went to college in Gunnison and would escape to the Black Canyon on occasion for sanity breaks. Unfortunately I was not into photography then, which is probably a good thing because I'd have spent all my time at the canyon and likely not graduated!

Lovely. Same rocks as in the inner gorge of the Grand Canyon: Zoroaster Granite and the Vishnu and Brahma Schists about 1.75 billion years old. Hard to believe, and yet you got it in 1/500th of a second! :-) The first one reminds me of the old linen post cards I used to collect as a kid, and wonder if I'd ever go there.....
