The fire has consumed 82K acres in the Catalina Mountains on the North side of Tucson, AZ. The fire was initiated by a lightning strike 3 weeks ago. In those 3 weeks Tucson has seen daily winds from the Southwest with afternoon wind speeds of 20 to 30 mph at times and temps above 103ยบ. There are over 1200 firefighters working this fire with assists from above by numerous type and size aircraft. The photo was taken from 35 miles away at 8:30 pm.
We were just there. Stayed with relatives off speedway. At night you could see the orange glow or the fire.
Could the folks up at the Mogollon Rim see the glow?
