Thank you to all who've joined with me almost daily as I posted a virtual slideshow of our 25 day backpack along the southern Waterpocket Fold in Utah. There were a few of my posts that never made it into the days gallery posting so they ended up being viewed by a 100 rather than 1800 or so. Here's a repeat of one of those postings. It's the day before and the day of picking up our second food cache which we had put by boat the day before the backpack started.

The first image shows a cave that extended back for 60 feet. The second looks like a seal balancing a ball on his nose. The third gives you an idea as to why it's called the Waterpocket Fold, 4 is Steve Allen (or a Flying Wallenda) 5 and 6 are from our camp the night we picked up the cache.

Yes, these are quite amazing. I missed them the first time. The landscape looks very similar to the Escalante wilderness area. But while it may not have the Wave it still has hoodoos and arches and Martian landscapes. Even if it was posted before, don't think anyone will complain about seeing great shots again.

What stellar weather too. The UV light wavelength must have been intense. I remember seeing a blue glow in the air when I was at that altitude.

Wilderness .., the daily viewing of your photos as you journey across the southern Waterpocket Fold of Utah ..
was a daily adventure of delightful viewing in our household ... the amount of effort it took to do this was not lost in the viewing of the delightful photos , but was ever present In our mind as each location and Captioned description Followed your 25 day journey.

My hat is off to you my friend .., Certainly a book of photos and calendars tied to the Utah Tourism Bureau should be explored ..,

Thank you ...

Thank you Dr. Nikon, and in fact my retirement project is to create a book "Seldom Seen"- images of rarely visited and hardly ever (if ever) photographed landscapes. Remember I've been hiking to ever more remote places in Canyon Country since 1974. I've named canyons (Hydra and Beryl in the Escalante drainage) and have a canyon named after me (Hard Day Harvey, a technical slot canyon that I was in the first descent party ) so I've got a lot of material to work with! Of course I'll announce it when it's done on UHH

The Escalante drainage is just on the other (west) side of the Waterpocket Fold. We could see it and it's tributary canyons (especially Stevens) every time we got even close to the top of the Waterpocket Fold.

Beautiful photos of amazing country! Just curious, how did your team manage a 25 day journey (food, water & etc.?) and have the ability to upload pictures every day along the route? I just cannot imagine how you accomplished that! (I may be missing something here?)
