R.I.P. Canon EF Lenses?

Canon Rumors reports that Canon will release six new RF lenses this year, including a 600mm f/11 and an 800mm f/11 priced at around $2,000.
Does this mean there will be no new EF lenses?
How practical is a 600mm or 800mm prime whose widest aperture is f/11? How good can these lenses be, considering the f/4 EF equivalents cost around $13,000?

Canon already has everything covered on EF lenses so why the concern?

There’s always room for improvement, otherwise there wouldn’t be Version II and III of EF lenses.
Canon has stated that they will be concentrating on RF lens for a year or so so they can build out support for that product line.

I am and have been a Nikon shooter for over 60 years. I predicted a few years back that eventually all cameras would be mirrorless.
Canon seems to be concentrating efforts in improving and expanding their mirrorless division. This only makes sense to me. I bet Nikon will follow.

Technology is and will move on. I can remember just a few years ago that film shooters said that digital would never replace film and with in five years the same folks were switching over, the same with all progress, such as automotive and space and etc. Remember computers. The same was said about the telephone. Progress and innovation will move on.

the 8oomm f11 should be similar to the nikon 800 f8 manual focus of the 80 s .for birds , that work ok in day time sunny or cloudy bright .a f11 lens should be relatively light .

I seriously doubt that any of my DSLR'S will ever choose to be mirrorless.

Canon has already announced that there will be no new EF lens designs. However, they will continue to manufacture existing designs,

I totally agree. I like my two Canon DSLR's, an 80D and a 90D. The only mirrorless cameras that are worth a hoot (in my estimation) are the ones that have a viewfinder. I have been in far too many situations where using the screen on the back of a camera was not possible.
I have never been without a film or digital camera since the early 60's working when I worked as a photographer for my high school.
