Both good, but it's the 2nd for me.
I prefer #2 - pity that his left wing tip is blown by that sunlight.
The first, but I like them both.
Soaring or landing. Hmmm.... might depend on how rough my last flight was. Today, I'm leaning toward the first.
I thank everyone that weighed in and voiced their opinion and some of you giving constructive criticism. This gives me food for thought and what to look for and what to be wary of. vz
That's a hard one-
the first, No the second...No the first.
Yes the first!

Both are very nice though I prefer the first one. It has gorgeous symmetry and a tacit sense of motion as well, as if the bird is coming straight toward you.
2nd one.
Thanks for sharing.

Both images!
As a Cal Poly Aero Graduate, I wish I had seen photos like these while studying Aerodynamics!

The first picture is more graceful and has a much better sunlit shape, but obviously the body is hard to discern in the sunlight. Since the overall presentation of light and dark is attractive, I would hand tint in the necessary body shapes to define the bird without darkening the real highlights. It would not take much to define the bird in picture one.
I am sure this can be done via the program, I just find it easier to draw in simple improvements.
