I have to apologize to those of us that have common sense on this site. I am sorry I made a comment along with that link about cats. I never dreamed that this would be turned into the argument of the last 2 days. If anyone knows how to ask that this be sent to the attic I wish someone would go ahead and do that. Again, I am sorry for this mess; it was not my intention. Enough is enough! There really are a lot of phoney people on this site. Many of them you never hear from when it comes to photography or interesting things to look at; only when they see something to allow them to cause more trouble do they crawl out from the sewers and rock!

Why is it nonsense to avoid racial stereotypes (and/or the perception of them)? This is simply acknowledging that we live in a pluralistic society, so let’s avoid disrespect — real or perceived, intentional or ignorantly innocent.

Because no one can figure out what screwy ideas you have come up with today. That's why.

This is not meant to be a personal attack but substitute anyone you want.

I predict that sales of the syrup and rice will fall precipitously, since the brand has been expunged.

I too find it interesting that there seems to be no news coverage of the business owners and normal people in those six blocks, how this take over affects them, their businesses, their relative feelings of safety and so on.

Not even by Fox News.

The images sent by CNN showed no ‘fire’, neither physical nor emotional. “Keep moving folk; nothing to see here.” The story seemed to be life was as usual.

It's not nonsense. Even as a child I wondered about Aunt Jemima and how this made African Americans feel. All these little things add up to the weight that breaks the backs of a people.

Grow up! What did you find racist about depicting a smiling face and image of good eating? I found 'Aunt Jemima" more appealing than the bland "Betty Crocker". I didn't think about skin color as a child and as an adult musician, skin color was a very minor impression under the prime ability and feeling of the musician's playing. "Aunt Jemima" was the relative whom I would speak of in fond terms. Her friendly, loving appearance was endearing.

Absolute nonsense is correct. The lady was the first female black millionaire because she was one of the best cooks ever. Leftist fools can't see and appreciate her accomplishments and the ongoing acknowledgement of same by her memorialization on the product. They only see their ignorant leftist idiocy.

Absolutely right!

You might want to ask an old "Southerner" (a term which is also offensive, by the way) before you expose your ignorance concerning our customs.

"Aunt" and "Uncle", when not applied to relatives, are informal titles denoting endearment, respect, and acceptance as part of the extended family, used by the children or when speaking to the children about their elder.

Adults of the same generation may address each other as "Sister" or "Brother" to denote familial acceptance, whether the parties are related or not.

In either case, neither age nor skin tan has anything to do with it.

"Mr." and "Mrs." are formal titles given to anyone you meet, until their preferred title is discovered.

In most places, they are used when they have no title.

There are still places where, if they have no other title, they are addressed by their occupation, similar to the custom in the Middle Ages.

Thus, you might have "Mayor Johnston", Colonel Higgenbotham, Head Dog-Catcher Smith, Assistant Grave-Digger Jones, Pastor Germano, Town Drunk Hester, etc.

At all times, the complete title is used, no matter how cumbersome and EVERYONE is assigned a title.

There are fewer and fewer places, today, that still follow this practice, but there are a few.

"Mr.", "Mrs." or "Miss", followed by the first name is an acceptable form of informal address by children towards an elder who is neither part of the family nor accorded the title of "Aunt" or "Uncle".

Thus, "Uncle Bob" is part of the family, while "Mr. George" is not.

Only trusted people from outside the family are ever granted the title of "Aunt" or "Uncle".

Any slave (one of which there hasn't been in this country for over 150 years) called "Aunt" or "Uncle" had special status, accepted as a member of the family.

Trivia for the Day:

The proper designation for a person from the South-Eastern section of the United States once called "Dixie" is "American" - without any stinking hyphen.

You're welcome.

Note: The above two sentences immediately prior to this one are hereby clearly labeled as the subtle sarcasm characteristic of this section of the country that indicates a state of being aware of an insult and dismissing it as unworthy of notice - in case you missed its significance.

You might want to ask an old "Southerner"... (show quote)

You might consider a comment such as stop trying so hard to be offended applies equally to anyone. And that was who it was directed to, anyone. Of course, it is the leftist morons who are offended by absolutely anything and everything and need it most.

The world knew her as "Aunt Jemima," but her given name was Nancy Green and she was a true American success story. She was born a slave in 1834 Montgomery County, KY... and became a wealthy superstar in the advertising world, as its first living trademark.

Green was 56-yrs old when she was selected as spokesperson for a new ready-mixed, self-rising pancake flour and made her debut in 1893 at a fair and exposition in Chicago. She demonstrated the pancake mix and served thousands of pancakes... and became an immediate star. She was a good storyteller, her personality was warm and appealing, and her showmanship was exceptional. Her exhibition booth drew so many people that special security personnel were assigned to keep the crowds moving.

Nancy Green was signed to a lifetime contract, traveled on promotional tours all over the country, and was extremely well paid. Her financial freedom and stature as a national spokesperson enabled her to become a leading advocate against poverty and in favor of equal rights for folks in Chicago.
She maintained her job until her death in 1923, at age 89.

Nancy Green was a remarkable woman... and has just been ERASED by the politically correct idiots.

She was the first ‘model’ - she was replaced by a more “modern” looking one in recent years.

FOX just had some business owners on. They captured a burgerler but the police wouldn ’t come fetch him. They are guarding their property with their guns.

There are sure to be some disasters: rapes, murders, assults, thefts, arson. Maybe enough of them will spur the Mayor and Police Chief to do their jobs.

Well, it is time for me to come up with a law suit... demanding millions from all the people who called my parents Aunt and Uncle. From birth to age 17 I lived in Alabama and calling someone Aunt or Uncle was a term of endearment, no matter what color they were. My parents were white and widely loved... and so many people called them Aunt and Uncle that I was sometimes confused as a child... wondering how I had so many cousins. All these people, or their heirs, need to make me rich for the slander of my parents.
