Help with Focusing Rail

Newbie here with my equipment. I have an Ishoot 150mm macro focusing rail slider. I know that knobs 1 and 2 move the upper plate backward and forward. I know that knob 3 opens the top plate to slide in my plate. Knobs 4 and 5 tighten the plate on the screw mechanism -- when/how do I use knobs 4 (this one turns up or down) and 5 (this one screws round and round)? Couldn't find specific help on the internet.

Knob 3 is for the Arca-Swiss clamp.
Knob 4 acts as a clutch, press it in, for quick changes in position of the camera/lens.
Knob 5 is probably a lock.

I think correct. 4 is a quick clutch to unclamp and clamp. But 5 is adjusted to effect how tight that clamp is.
I think the bottom of the rig has Arca Swiss type grooves, so you could buy a 2nd one and mount it perpendicular to this one. This gives you both forward/backward and also side to side control. Lotta knobs though. A simpler way to have that added motion is to get a long 'sliding rail' with that sort of mount. So the side to side is not done with an auger screw. You just unclamp and slide and reclamp.

Hi Rick! Thank you so much. I would have never figured out to push knob 4 in. It sure beats turning and turning knob 1!

Hi Mark! Yes, there are Arca Swiss groves on the bottom to be able to mount two devices together. It would definitely be a plus to be able to adjust the side to side and front to back working so close with the MPE65.

Linda, that is a very nice manual macro rail that you have. The button in question is a quick release to that to move the camera without turning the fine thread rod screw which could take time. Move quick and then fine tune your focus.

Your focus rail has a low profile so it will be quite sturdy. The higher the camera sits the more torque leverage there will be which will create unwanted movement. The fine threaded screw provides very fine and precision movement of the camera which is great for higher magnification with flat depth of field.

I am confident that you will enjoy using your precision macro rail and I look forward to seeing your upcoming posts.
