This reminds me of my Grandfathers Home. He built 3 like this but with a porch all the way around.
He would say "if I want to set in the shade I can"

Good idea for the summer and no A/C.
Great photo of this old house.
The type of house that begs to be restored - sure hope it will be eventually!
I believe you and I photographed the same house. It is very near where I live. There are a number of very interesting forgotten buildings in the vicinity of the old home place including the old Roxana schoolhouse. When I posted this picture on the FaceBook page Forgotten Alabama, the owner contacted me telling me some history of the house and his family. My picture is on display this month at the Kennedy-Douglas Art Center in Florence, AL.

Which part of Alabama? I grew up on Sand Mountain, near Boaz.

As far as I'm concerned, that's beautiful Rhett
The house is in the northern part of Lee County outside of Auburn in the Roxana Community. (Assuming it is indeed the same house.)

Sitting on the porch goes good with a cold mint julip on a late afternoon.
