I have bought several books on cameras and many others from Amazon used books. Never been burned and the prices are very reasonable. The last book was for my Nikon D300. $13.50 delivered and it even had the wallet cards still attached. Try Amazon used. 4 stars. It would be 5 stars but for a two volume set of the Wright Brothers papers and only received one volume. The seller was a Goodwill, so they gave me my money back and had me drop off the book at my local Goodwill. I found another seller and got both volumes in LN condition.

Also you get a free E book when you buy the hard copy. I put it on the laptop and it is with me when I travel.

Nice to know. I guess I didn't realize that. I saw that the color book was $118. Good thing I bought the B/W copy.

I concur on Friedman. I've used 3 of his books. They are exhaustive, which can seem daunting, but he also provides his "go to" setup, which allows one to optimize at a generic level without gaining a degree in Sony options.

I'm getting a new (used) a99ii sometime tomorrow (FedEx just called to ensure someone will be here to sign for it). Other than my ancient Canon AE-1 Program 35mm film camera, this will be my first FF cam which is going to complement my a77...until I get an a77ii. Who writes the best manual for cameras - basics and secret hints?

I bought the a99II when it was new from B&H and loved it. I also got a 28-300 Tameron lens along with it.
Afterward I got Friedman's book and couldn't believe how useful it is. I hadn't used an SLR before and at the start of his book he told hoe he had set up his menu systems which took a lot of the guesswork out of things when I went to use the first time. I am still using my a99II now and am not interested in anything out there on the market today even though A mount lenses will be getting hard to find. I hope you enjoy yours.

I checked. I couldn't find any used (or at least any I did were almost as (or more) expensive as brand new copy. I have a print of a Wright brothers painting I bought at Oshkosh several years ago by an artist from Minnesota. It depicts the first successful powered flight from Kitty Hawk. I also bought 2 "bookend-style" (that's what I call them anyways) prints of Amelia Earhart and Charles Lindbergh.

I have purchased several of Freidman's books on Sony cameras but have no experience with Busch.

In my opinion Friedman's manuals are head and shoulder's above the Sony versions. Well worth to money.

I looked on Amazon and saw some e-books, but I don't have a Kindle and I'd rather have an actual book in my hands than read on a screen (call me old-fashioned I guess). I think the Gary Friedman book was around $50 and almost 1000 pages, though. Just saw that bn.com has it for $53. I still have to get a hotshoe adapter and a battery grip (always wanted one of those) too...but It'll feel like Christmas in June when FedEx pulls up. Buying the camera for my birthday (Monday) since my trip to Spain and Portugal was cancelled due to COVID-19 (was supposed to leave last Friday). Still waiting for my refund from Air France!! Decided to use my credits and changed to Ireland for the same time next year. I think I'll take both cameras out tomorrow (if it's not too dark) and shoot a lily or mushroom or something with each camera and the same lens (maybe my 105 macro) and compare them for detail.

I love my Samsung tablet for reading books. HUGE advantage is that you can adjust the print size according to your sight. Even adjust pictures to see details you would miss otherwise.

Friedman...by far the most complete and most helpful (I’ve used ‘em both but stick with Friedman!)

My Friedman book is supposed to arrive sometime today. Last I knew it was in Kansas City...that was Saturday.
