Trump has failed, and people are dying, and will continue to die.

Do, under the circumstances, who could have done better & how?

I didn't support President Obama. Now call me a bigot to my face. Obama turned out to be one of the worst presidents in history. Not the worst but one of the worst. Now call me a bigot to my face. President Obama was elected because he was black, well...half black. That makes every one who voted for him a bigot. He had NO work experience or life experience to prepare him for the presidency. He was elected because he is black and had a billionare backing him. Now call me a bigot. You are indeed an ass.

Read my post again. You are actually defending my position. I said you can be a patriot without supporting the leader. Didn’t you just say the same thing? You didn’t support Obama. Neither did millions of others. The same with Trump. Name calling is definitely a Trump trait. Definition of a bigot: a person who is intolerant toward those holding different opinions. You tell me if you are a bigot.

You really can’t presume to know what was in the minds of the voters who put Obama in the White House for two terms.
You really don’t know,

“You know, it always surprises me, although I guess it shouldn't, that foreigners think they have the right to climb up a ladder and peer over the fence into the greatest nation the world has ever known and start criticizing us.” Quote from Retired CPO.

You are right – it shouldn’t surprise you since we also have freedom of speech. I might debate the “greatest nation the world has ever known”. That could equally apply to the Roman Empire or the Mongols and look what happened to those nations !
My reference to the Constitution was about how you are standing up for your right to “free speech” but you are now allowing YouTube to censor it plus the right to support the same free speech is killing you by you failing to keep social distances and wearing masks. As is your “right” of course BUT it is killing you when it shouldn’t be.
I am more a ‘let be ‘ type of person but if you Americans don’t keep a very close eye on things YOU will be learning Manadarin shortly.

‘Nothing gives the impression of superiority quite like beginning a sentence with "You Americans...." And yes, that freedom of speech and all those other rights can be such a bitch.” Quote from wds0410.

You Americans also suffer from another problem. You are way too touchy about some things. I was not being superior about things. Just pointing out some observations and facts. Was anything I said incorrect ?

“Yeah, Jerry. New Zealand must be a paradise on earth, right?” Quote from CPO again.

We got problems too and are not perfect. However I should point out that NZ has had a huge increase in numbers from Yanks wanting to move here. They must have some reason.

“The U.S. is a nation of individuals who act in their own self interest, similar to how capitalism works. It has proven to be the best and freest form of government in world history.” Quote from Fotoartist.

Not sure I would call the mess you are currently in as demonstrating ‘self interest’. Interesting that you think it is the best and freest form of government in the world. I will concede that it is most definitely better than Communism by far. But the Roman Empire lasted far longer and at the moment the signs of your lasting that long are not great.

I guess that the jury is still out on Trump since we aren’t looking back after 25 years to see how he went. In the past I have not been a Trump supporter. Lately I have changed my mind a bit. The man is an ass but I like the worlds chances better when it will have to deal with China than if say Obama had still been in power.

POTUS Trump ignored information predicting the severity of COVID 19. He repeatedly minimized the severity of the disease and promoted the use of Hydroxychloroquine without clinical evidence to support its use. He repeatedly ignored the advice of Dr. Fauci because he was more concerned about his poll numbers. Covid 19 has proved far more dangerous then influenza. The twenty states which have open up during the past few weeks have experienced large increases in the number of cases. The cost of caring for these people is going to be a challenge for the economy. I don't care what your politics are strap in this is going to be a bumpy ride.

I think you need to catch a good whiff out of the O2 tank that you should be carrying around with you. It might clear your head a bit.
Do you mean PRESIDENT Trump hasn't gotten his hands dirty working on a vaccine? I guess he should have gone to medical school to be qualified to act as PRESIDENT of the U.S.
Like it or not, Wall Street IS the economy and we would all be dead without it.
Surprisingly, we agree on ONE point. I wish PRESIDENT Trump would divorce himself from twitter. It often back fires on him in the public eye. BUT, that's who he is and the way he does business. Who are you and I to expect him to change that?
And yes, he had my vote last time and he has it again this time around. And if it were possible and if he continues his good work I would vote for him a third time. But WAIT, he's a Republican. It's the demoncrats who cheat and scheme and lie and steal on election day.

Thank you for your service, your viewpoint, and your respect for the office of President of the United States. It is one of my pet peeves that in the mainstream media it was President Obama and now it's Trump. President Trump did not destroy the economy as HarryO posted, au contraire mon frère; notwithstanding the Covid-19 pandemic and its effects, the stock market (DOW) has become stronger since President Trump took office than at any other time.

As one other poster said, it is unlikely that a cogent, correct discussion of political matters, the pandemic, and our leadership is possible.

Which is why he closed travel from China.

No, actually it was based on anecdotal reports that the drug had clinically been found to be effective.

Dr. Fauci's advice changed repeatedly.

We don't normally restrict travel or shut down the economy for the flu, do we?

With exception of Georgia. It is only logical that opening up in the absence of vaccine or herd immunity will inevitably result in more cases. This is a states' decision, not Trump's.

No argument there.

I don't particularly like Trump, but also don't care for putting the blame for multi system failure to handle a pandemic on one individual. Its not realistic.

On January 22, 2020 the wise leader Trump told his country that the virus was under control. Then, he continued to downplay the severity of it, hoping it would go away. He said by Easter, it would not be a problem. This was all by his instinct, a gut feeling, in a tragic effort to ignore the problem, and protect the stock market. 113,000 American deaths later, he refuses to even talk about it. But he does ask his attendees at the rally next week to sign a waiver releasing his organization of all liability for anyone who gets sick.
This man is not a leader.

Why don't you jump in there and help him out? It's easy to sit on the couch and criticize. One of his many jobs is to calm the public and prevent a panic. Another one is to protect the stock market. Another is to protect citizens and property when mobs threaten to burn down cities.

What's wrong with reminding people that personal actions are personal and people should be personally responsible for their own actions? If you are in a high risk category maybe you should sit this one out.

I think that PRESIDENT Trump might be a bit gun shy after being blamed for every bad thing that happens every where in the world for the last three and a half years.

He lied, deliberately mislead the People he has been chosen to represent about a major health hazard that would soon threaten their lives.
He is a fraud, only interested in his re-election, incapable of uniting the country in times of serious crisis.
He should have never been trusted to protect this country—he has no sense of right and wrong, no conscience, no empathy.
