Who prints and delivers the photos?

If you want to sell photos or prints thru SmugMug, you must have the level of service that is set up for e-commerce.

There are several photo printing services available through SmugMug. Pick the one you like... some are less expensive than others. All do great work. The client picks the photo, the media, the size, etc. and pays SmugMug. That order is then sent by SmugMug to the printing service. The printing service sends the completed work directly to the client. SmugMug pays the printer, keeps a nominal service fee, and, any profit is retained by SmugMug for you in your account. You can then decide when to get the money from SmugMug.

And, again, the SmugMug heroes will be more than happy to provide you with details on how this all works.

...this is where I became aware of Bay Photo, and never have needed any other printing outfit. 12 years at Smugmug, top notch service!

I use Bay Photo for prints. I'm happy with them as well. Their metal prints look great.

Hi Fayle:

Your photos are excellent and I love your presentation on your smugmug website..

I am not an expert at manipulating smugmug and would like to learn how you separated the two sections "recent Photos" and Photo Albums". Can you help? May be you can direct me to any training material on smugmug web site to learn how to do this so I don't waste your time?

You can see what I mean by visiting my web site at www.suneelphoto.smugmug.com. The first folder has my photos from various events I have photographed. These are for prospects to see my work. The other folders have client photos and personal photos which are protected by a password. I would like to separate the first folder from others as you have done.

Thanks for any help.

Mike, I also use SmugMug but most of my photos are portrait based. I'd like to make some changes to my website but not that great working with some of it. I wish they would go over things on the phone Is your site based on a template? If so, which one is it?

Since I'm doing mostly portrait work, I'm not sure how it would work compared to the terrific work you are doing!

I also don't use the selling feature since I print most of my own work. I usually use the site as a place where I can show my images to my clients so they can make choices of their favorites. You can look at my site: www.brantphotography.com and maybe give me ideas if you want.

If you keep hacking away you'll get it...the SM system is not that intuitive, so, like I've been doing for many years; chop one tree down at a time!!!

Thank you for the compliment Cameraman.
It has been a long time since I have made any updates to my site. I had to log on and look at the layout to remember how I did it. To summarize;
1. Log on to your smugmug account
2. On the top menu bar there is a link called "Customize". Click on it.
3. From the drop down menu/tool bar, select "Content & Design"
4. A menu/tool bar will open on the right side of the screen. Select "Homepage"
5.Moving down the screen select "Content". From here move your cursor over "Multiple Photos" and click on the wrench icon that appears. From here you will have to experiment to adjust the layout till you are satisfied with the results.

As someone else mentioned, Smugmug is not very intuitive and it takes some trial and error to figure it out.
Don't get discouraged and good luck.

Nice website.
So who sets the price of the prints and who does the printing?
Thanks

Thank you Bike Guy,
I have never used Smugmug for printing so I'm not sure about the details.
I believe that you, the user, set your own prices.

I've been entertaining giving Smugmug a try. Up to date research leaves me with a few questions. Are your pics protected from unauthorized downloads and does smugmug have a guideline for sales pricing so as not to undercut other photographers or is it at the photographer's discretion? Please weigh in if your experience will benefit, thank you.
Last but not least, continued good shooting hedgehogs 😎.

I have been the SmugMug user for nearly 7 years now. Nowhere near an expert at it but a little farther along than I was several years ago. It’s true if it’s displayed on a computer screen, someone can do a screen capture but that resolution and quality is crap compared to having the file in hand. Smug mug does give you the option in it’s menus to disable the right click and download. Files cannot be downloaded unless you turn that on that can be turned on for each folder each gallery, the control of that is all up to you. In regards to pricing, it’s at the photographers, the owner’s discretion what he, what we think our work is worth.
SmugMug is, like many other services out there, is an excellent tool. I’m hooked up with White House custom color thru Smug mug and photos can be purchased directly through them.
This is one of many great servings and my, one of many opinions.

I've had SmugMug for three years, and love it. I am still in the process of uploading ALL my photos (mostly as backups), and also have individual galleries for other content. All of the folders that are just backups are listed as 'private' and don't even show up when you go to my site. I'm still working on learning it, but you can play with it and change things, and always get back to what you had before modifying it. Fun to work with, and he help response is super. Check out my site: merleplagge.smugmug.com. The reason I don't have a customized name is because I'm using it for my blog, and e-mail.
