Piper Super Cub PA-18.

Have fun in the Skyhawk, Learning to fly is one of the neatest things you can do!

Nice! Something about those old tail draggers,, they just seemed to have more visual appeal. I did my solo in a 150 Cessna while on shore duty at NAS Chase Field TX. back in 1983. I swear that thing would have flown backwards in a 10 mph headwind. Can still hear my instructor admonishing me to ''watch that carb heat'' Thanks for the post and bringing back a memory

I learned in a Ryan Navion but have some time in a Piper Cub. Wonderful airplane to fly.

I learned in a Cessna 150 - G-ATJU - at Sunderland airport in the UK. This sadly, is now a Nissan car factory, although I believe my current car was made there!

Soloed a few times, but never got my license due to the closing of the airport, and where I was serving in the military.

Nice! Old pictures can bring back some nice memories. That's why I like photo albums - and digital, too.

I've read about a lot of new pilots flying solo. I guess people are afraid to fly with them.

My solo was in a WW-II L-4 at the Red Leg Flying Club, Fort Sill, OK, while I was stationed there. Before I left Sill I also got checked out in the clubs L-19 during the 1964-1965 timeframe. Fond memories. When I got out of the service I re-joined the Civil Air Patrol (I had been a CAP Cadet '60 thru '63 when I went in the Army) and flew cadets on orientation rides during the 1970's in, you guessed it, an L-4 owned by Lt Col Howard Grueller, a WW-II fighter pilot and CAP member.

I used to drive by a local airport near La Plata, MD that did flying lessons and you could earn a pilots license. I often wanted to do that as the planes were similar and didn't look intimidating. However, I didn't have money to spend on such an extravagance when I could barely afford car maintenance.

How cool. My first 5 hours were in a Piper J5, but I ultimately soloed in a 150. Took a biennial in a J3 once, probably the most fun checkride I ever did. Flying is happy way to spend time and gives a totally different perspective on things. Thanks for sharing.

ME! Piper J-3 Cub. Waynesville Airport and Skydiving Club. Just south of Wright-Patt AFB Dayton Ohio.

Taildraggers forever.

Always timed takeoff to fly low over number one tee on golf course across road from the end of the strip. Best score was when one of the four players were teeing off as you buzzed over.

Solo'd in 1990.

Always wanted to fly, but the only flying I do is on my computer simulator. My Dad learned to fly in Great Lakes biplanes and J-3's. I still have his log book, it is a treasure I take good care of. Sometimes I can just see my Dad doing his cross country work back in those days.
