I decided to see if I could recreate the photo, the print, I gave to the lass as I mentioned in "Happy Frisbee." As I recall what I gave her was a 16x20 print. So I took that third image as scanned and cropped it to 1200 by 1500 pixels. That's the right ratio and as presented here it is probably about correctly cropped to agree with the print I gave to her. Then I dinked with the grey scale and did some other stuff for this uploaded image and here it is, downloadable.
I don't like b/w. In my opinion they all would've looked much better in color

You're entitled to your opinion, even if misguided.

Yeah, this one is better - as would be expected given your tweaking

I couldn’t disagree more.
I started with B&W in the early 70's and while I am not a professional photographer I really appreciate a well done B&W. I find it much more difficult to get a good B&W photo as compared to color. You do not have the color to help cover flaws.
Kudos on your choice of shutter speed which I think was key. Anything slower and this would have been trashed.
FA: Kudos accepted but I suspect it was luck! With significant light level it was probably a short exposure time. -JimT
captures the natural pure joy of youth - outstanding shot
