Where y'all been?
I have not been without Borax in 60+ years. Keep some in the laundry room all the time and when sprinkled in the carpet and vacuumed after 3 day, then do again twice more,(I use a stove top salt shaker) it kills all the fleas and flea eggs. You can even sprinkle a little in the dogs bed. Have had at least two dogs at all times for 56 years and since I found that out 27 years ago, I haven't had fleas in the house. Brightens whites when added to the laundry too.

There ya go, another use! Many things I was never aware of, wonder if Gramma knew all this?

It's still sold in supermarkets. You just have to hunt for it.

Heck, in our grocery stores you can't even find Spic 'n' Span to wash floors! LOL

I have the nostalgic ability to walk down the well-known path of history every day.

I buy it at my local Safeway store. I use it on my hair to strengthen in, on my nails for the same reason, in my garden -very sparingly, but never in my laundry.

I remember the plastic model of the 20-mule team and borax wagan that they marketed for a while. It was a kit which you'd assemble into a pretty-good looking model, rigging and all. Late '50s maybe? KJN

I built several of them, someone would always want them!!
