While hedgehog is one word (a least according to wikipedia) and the abbreviation should be UH, plenty of people seem to be using UHH.

I would like to establish one "official" abbreviation for contest titles and whatever else we might have in the future.

So what's the general opinion? UH or UHH?

As an administrator, it is your decision to be made, it is our role to abide by what you decide. To me it makes no difference since I never have or plan to use the abbreviation.

Then instead of trying to read hundreds of responses, why not add a poll and let the group vote that way?

We could change the name of the Forum to Determined Ugly Hedgehogs. Then we'd be DUH! :thumbup:

Personally, I'd prefer sticking with UHH. Don't know what the big deal is about.

I think they could use the new photo contest format and do the voting that way.

BTW UH is the one true abbreviation and all other abbreviations are Wrong Thinking and will be punished ;-).

personally I would use UGH. I think it's a more accurate (so to speak) abbrev... but that's just me. If not that, then UHH, but definitely not uh or UH.. :shock:

how about just TH, thehog.
Tried to find something interesting with Sus Scrofa Domesticus; maybe someone more creative can.
Maybe just Sus Scrofa, hedge hog implies wild not domesticated.
Maybe Turpis Sus Scrofa....nope..."the hog" sounds better and here we go again into the vortex of off topic

One vote for UHH. It's a no-brainer. UH may be logical but just sounds stupid! UHH sounds like an official organization. Like the man who started profiling for the FBI called it the BS Unit for Behavior Science or some such logical abbreviation. They had to change it finally, profiling was a new thing, a lot of people thought it was a bunch of malarky. Of course, people started saying BS stood for Bull S*#t. UH is the sound you make when someone hits you and you are senseless for a moment. UH sounds like a senseless organization, it just doesn't sound serious.

Just a thought ... what about "UHh"? that would account for the one-word use.

I wondered what UH UHH stood for... ;-}
UH is quick, and Hedgehog is one word. Seems wrong to make it UHH to me. But my world will not end either way.
