I use Mpix for my very large prints. They have a 25 percent sale going on now. Service is good and they have all kinds of frames.

I use one of two for large prints. Well, prints of any size.

I want to do a larger print of this photo a 20x24. Who do you use? I usually go with a canvas or if a print Shutterfly, but not this time, they don't offer 20x24! Actually I want 20x20, but figured custom size would cost even more and I don't really want to spend an arm and a leg...

Correction, Mpix is currently 25% off but if you sign up for emails they do often offer 50% discount.

Coupralux in Dallas is a full service custom printer. They will print any size, whether a "standard" size or not on a wide range of papers and other media. For Baryta or similar paper, figure about 10 cents per square inch for printed area plus 5 cents per square inch for white border area.

They will do adjustments or not, as you request.

They have Dropbox capability and can work from your JPEG, TIFF, DNG, or raw file. I always ealkin, so don't know exactly how their process works if you are remote, but lots of people work that way. I do not have their number, but they have a website... coupralux.com.

They have been very helpful as I have learned how to use custom printers, and I have been very pleased with their work.

Bay Photo

Printique (formerly Adoramapix)

There used to be a hundred good pro labs in this country. The ones that are left have to be good to survive.

Will check them out! Thanks!

As others have stated, MPIX, BayPhoto, and WHCC are great. I’ve used all three for large prints. I think MPIX has the best skin color.

If you’re ever in Northern California, you should take a personal tour of BayPhoto. They’re located in Scott’s Valley, near Santa Cruz. I simply called them up last summer and asked them for a tour and they gave me a private one with one of their salespeople.

Their facility is 110,000 square feet! It took about an hour just to walk through it! I can’t even tell you how many printers they had, it was so many. During the holidays they employ 450 people. Truly impressive.

I use Sue at Campus Camera in Kent Ohio. But due to the pandemic she may not yet have returned.

I love Bay Photo. I used them for the first time when I needed large size prints for a solo show. Because this was going to cost me a lot of $$, I was very nervous and I was on the phone with them every day for a while with some question or other. They were so patient and just terrific. The process I used was to just initially print 8x10 photos for me to review. I let them color correct because they know their papers, and except for one image they all came out looking exactly like what I see on my monitor. I think they mostly just correct brightness. The one that needed to be redone was an early morning shot where the color was more green than the blue I was looking for. They adjusted and sent me another at no cost. Then when I was ready to order the large prints, I simply told them to match them to the earlier order #s. They came out perfect.

...for odd sizes and bigger than I can produce: Bay Photo. They do all my Smugmug printing and are outstanding.

Btw, if you have a color/brightness calibrated workflow and download their ICC profile and soft proof, you can save around 40% on Bay Photo printing by omitting correction by them. To get a complete price list and order online, download their bayroes ap.

Just saying although I print my own canvases that size and larger for myself and a handful of art photographers here in Florida , I think you choice of 20 x 24 is a better choice as far as composition . I like it as it is , a 20 x20 would be a difficult decision for Me to make it is a fine image now .
