I have a brand new Canon RP with the EF EOS R adapter for EF lenses. The instructions from Canon indicate the adapter should first be attached to the lens and THEN they should be attached to the camera.
It is not critically important but I would like to leave the adapter attached to the camera and THEN change lenses. Any thoughts about if that would be OK ?
Thank you for your ideas
The adapter goes on the lens and then the two onto the camera to assure the autofocus works correctly based on how the camera 'recognizes' the lens and adapter. If Canon goes so far as to document this recommendation, they've seen issues in their internal testing.

I would think that if the camera was off, it would make no difference.
Thank you Paul. I will do it as Canon instructs

They say the same thing about using Extenders too.

Ben there, done that! The firmware/in camera computer does NOT function properly unless Canon's sequence is followed. So I just do it their way! Not too difficult!!
I've done it both ways and never noticed a difference. If someone has had an issue I would like to hear what it was out of curiosity.

Of course, you have opened anew subject, what protocol is used when stacking extenders? Which goes where?
