There were several other officers standing by while the one officer killed the man. I think that they should be charged also. Any of them could have called a halt to the whole thing, but they stood around and let it happen. They should be held to account.

The problem isn't only a black and white issue. There were many white faces in those groups of criminal looters and arsonists.

Good morning "stash",

Very well stated ! I could not agree more.

All the best to you and yours - and stay safe during these uncertain times.

Now, for an aerial view of Minneapolis/St. Paul...(I'm guessing there is still a lot left...)

I have asked my niece to run for a Commissioner's seat. She lives in the middle of that mess and the city needs new leadership at the top.

I want someone to explain to me in a reasonable world how this is the Republicans or President Trumps fault.

Yes, someone should explain that. Just look at all that Trump has done to harmonize race relations, not just now, but as a landlord in NYC. He has constantly preached avoiding violence, racial tolerance, and giving all people equal rights. Every time an unarmed black person has been shot by the police, he has condemned the act and asked for a full investigation.

Oh, wait a minute, I'm thinking about what a real President would have done.

Thats what it's going to wind up as. This is beyond mourning for Mr. Floyd.

As an old photojournalist---think 1970s---that last one is a story teller. Well done, and the B&W really works.

I think even a three year old has more common sense than these people, this was more of a person with absolutely no mind, no brain, and a lack of any common sense.

Are you saying that Trump did not denounce the officers involved in this fiasco? Are you suggesting that he did not denounce the actions that recently took place in Brunswick GA, or in several other cities throughout our country? The fact that you are poorly informed Jerry is not Trump's fault.

On one of the photos there was a spray message that read, 'Do you hear us now?' I heard them at the Watts Riots and the black community still does not understand that riots, looting and burning down building will NEVER bring them any closer to equality that they are looking for. It will only confirm what they are rioters, looters and arsonists. When they , the rioters, looters and arsonists finally realize that it isn't working and start giving a crap about someone else other then themselves, the chasm might start demenosting. Until then they don't stand a chance of gaining anything except confirming how utterly stupid they are.

I lived in Newark NJ during the 67 riots, back then they did a lot of damage to the city. Racism runs both ways, people are so quick to blame others for what these people are well know for, to disrespect society, the law, and themselves. They have been given more opportunities to make a better life, than any other ethnic groups. Some have embraced those advantages, and have done well for themselves. However many have chosen a different path, and has only made it worse for themselves. They don’t want to be held accountable for the crimes they commit, and use the race card for their antisocial behavior.
There is no question that Mr. Floyd was killed, and those involved must be held accountable. I don’t believe it was intentional, but it did result in a persons death. That doesn’t give them the right to burn, loot, and act the way they’re doing.
MLK’s Dream has turn into a nightmare!

Great photos Alex - as a record what the police bestiality can cause?
I am actually sorry for those four guys who have not obviously had a right family education in their youth to know better and allowing themselves to do this incredible crime.
Just like the Great Deprecion photos and the images of horrors during the Second War, it is to remember for us, how low the human mentality can drop?
Are we ever able to learn?
Thank you Alex for your well presented history!

Ditto, well said! and so true mate....

Absolutely correct. Yet there are those who will insist we live in a "post-racial" America and ignore the almost daily evidence that being anything but "white" brings with it stigma. And by rationalizing and rejecting the evidence, the messengers are blamed for the message.

I am not excusing vandalism, looting, violence, thugs, or thieves; but can only imagine what it must be like to fear "walking while black". Add at least 70 years of broken promises and a cauldron of anger is created.

What broken promises are you referring to? Lower testing standards so they can pass a test easier, force businesses to hire an unqualified person over a qualified one? Being supported cradle to grave? These have been in place for decades, so what am I missing?

It is not that simple, were it an easy problem to fix it would have been fixed by now, the efforts that you point to were failures, they were never going to fix the problem and bring equality to those communities, they were nothing more than a feel good fix by politicians so that they could say that they were working for those communities.
