It is a really cute shot but I can’t tell what they’re tugging on. I suspect I don’t want to know.

I have a similar photo but it's of my own dog as a cute puppy...with a cat turd dangling from his mouth. I still like your photo.

From the nails and pads of the foot (left side) it might be a mink or weasel. Does not appear to be a whole animal.

Interesting - looks like they are playing tug of war with a paw of some other animal. The circle of life.

Think Longshadow probably has it right ... this is life in the wild. They're predators, so will eat a lot of other animals over their lives ... or else they'll be short lived. I think you captured Mother Nature doing what she does ... great shooting & thanks for sharing.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Wasn't there a sibling with black front legs?

Maybe a coyote got one of the kits and these two found what was left.

But they may be opportunistic about foxes that have died. These kits may merely be playing with a "prize," honing their survival skills. I've heard that cameras placed in fox dens reveal that even tiny babies are brutal towards one another, and that not all survive the attacks of their siblings.

It's a fine capture no matter what it is they are tugging on.

Wow....I knew Eagle chicks were cannibals but I never suspected Fox Kits of the same behavior. That sure explains the history of some in my pasture that have suddenly thinned-out recently. Mange got one of them I know for sure . Thanks for the surprising heads-up.
