Is that a typo or Freudian slip? In UK we call it a craB apple not a craP apple
That shutter speed also called my attention but the high ISO and the large lens opening justifies that. A small aperture, for the gentleman that asked, will produce as Linda said more depth of field while the large lens opening is what photographers use for selective focus.
I agree with Linda, the background looks great to my eyes. It is a nice image.
Nice photo but the name of the apple tree is not a Crap Apple but a Crab Apple.
A "crap apple tree" is an apple tree that does not bear fruit.
Same goes for a shihtzu, it's a zoo with no animals.

Nice photo. I wonder what the same shot would look like if you had used f11?
Not as good. It would have shifted the focus from the subject, the front foreground blossom, and resulted in all of the blooms being in focus. This would have caused visual confusion to the eye and brain, with too much detail and trying to decipher what the subject was.
So this DOF is perfect as shot..... Good question though.

For me, the soft background is super-yummy!
Agree. Wide open separates the blossom from background.

What is Crap Apple? It doesn't sound very delicious. Perhaps crabapple?
Ever had crabapple jelly? My Grandmother used to make her own when I was a youngster. It's really good! Crabapples are about the size of a grape.

???? My Grandmothers crabapple tree beared fruit every year. I used to gather them up from the ground and pick them off of the tree so she could make her own jelly.
My bad, I didn't notice the spelling right away!
Nice capture, it may have been nice to see a little more DOF. Thanks for sharing.
