Please;
Looking for a UHH review on this lens, Experience prefered to provide a good Review.
I am interested due to the 2.8 constant aperture, allowing plenty of light.
I presently own a Nikon 11-20mm 4.5-5.6 wide angle, for my Landscape Photography

I use this lens on my Nikon D7200. Usually I use this combo for time-lapse photography. I like using the wide lens; it gives me room to crop to an area of interest or zoom in. I also use it for landscape photography but not as much as for time lapses. The combo is much lighter than my Nikon D750/Tamron 15-30 SP G1 lens combo.

It sounds like a pretty good lens. If bought, I will be using it on my Nikon D3300, mainly for Landscape Photography, in which I hope to provide myself extra Income to assist in paying for acquiring wanted Photography equipment.

If you don’t have a macro, Tokina makes a 100mm f/2.8 that is awesome.

Tokina is a a very good product. This lens is well regarded and I know very chums that use this glass.

But I am curious as to why you are considering it over what you already own. I have yet to see a poor quality UWA product True inside a product run there are variations, but even that is rare.

There are some great used buys out there as many people just don't know how to utilize a UWA lens.

Just a question I think needs to be asked.

Rotsa ruck and a friendly LOL on that.

Seriously, if you hope photo work income might pay for your gear then it’s a no-brainer that you can recoup the cost of you current lens much sooner. Run that to completion before even thinking about an upgrade. Thaz not just a proper bidnez practice, it also allows you some time to assess whether a faster newer lens might sufficiently increase your gross enough to financially justify itself.

Excuse my lack of knowledge, but I must ask, What is a UWA Lens?
I do like my Nikon 10-20mm 4.5-5.6 Lens, and I may keep it, just curious if the Tokina 11-16mm DX Pro II lens would compete or possibly surpass my Nikon lens. I presently have 5 Nikon Lens for my D3300

UWA Ultra Wide Angle is normally thought of a zoom for Full Frame 14-16 to 28-35 Aps-c or crop sensor is 8-10 to 16-20.

It would be good if you could borrow one to give it a go.

The only way I have found to generate money is sell equipment. Buy cheap and sell high.

I have never used the Nikon 10-20mm so I can't speak to its lens specs. The Tokina is a faster lens (f/2.8 vs f/4.5) and was introduced in 2012 vs the the more recent Nikon (2017). Also, the Nikon has image stabilization unlike the Tokina although this isn't an issue if shooting on a tripod. Both lens may have been tested at DXOMarks if you are interested in the lens optical qualities.

If you are not shooting astrophotography or in dark settings and don't need a faster lens, staying with your Nikon may be a better choice.

I have that lens and like it very much. I use it on my D500 as that is my last DX since going full frame. I like it so much that I'm now shopping for a Tokina FF UWA for my D850. It's smaller, lighter and way less expensive than the equivalent Nikon, and wait for it...just as good!

I would find(Google) a site(s) where they evaluate without prejudice regarding lens capabilities.

I only use two lenses for landscape photography. The Nikon 16-35 mm f4 (90% of the time) and the Nikon 24-120 f 4 (10% of the time), I use these two because they share the same filter size.
Sounds like you are set on the Tokina, but I find a 11-16 a little two wide for most of the things I shoot. Below is an example of the 16-35. This was a photo of a water fall in a small town in Vermont, the old mill can be seen in the background.

I've had the Tokina for about 4 yrs--I can't say that I've had more than moderate use but I've not been disappointed and feel no need to get anything esle in this range. Most of my use has been indoors for RE interiors so the high aperture is a nice feature...

Seems you are suggesting that the 10-20 he’s already using could be too wide so if he needs a faster lens maybe moderate wide would be the solution ?

It’s very clear you find 10-20 excessive but not at all clear what you’d suggest for his new lens.

I’m verrry fond of my 10-22 but it can be a bit much so I recently got a 15-85 and find it to be the “Goldilocks” range. The 10-20 has now become the perfect wide-to-normal for my Pen-F m4/3.
