I am currently shopping around for a new camera, my grand daughter got a hold of my Cannon and it no longer functions correctly (those one year old fingers can work fast if your not paying attention) so anyway, I am on a tight budget and have been comparison shopping in the $150.00 range. Is it possible to get a good point and shoot in that price range? I liked my Cannon and have owned a Sony at one time (stolen from my car). Any suggestions?

Not sure how much $150.00 will buy today ? Check with a good camera store and sometimes you can pick up a good camera from someone who is upgrading and selling his equipment. Good luck in your search and let me know how you did.

Check Canon and Nikon and Fuji P&S cameras...saw some close to your budget. If you get hooked on photography you will probably move up to a digital system...save up now and avoid the disappointment later not having upgraded to a more advanced system with many more options...my opinion.

Check out eBay. Many are upgrading at the end of the year and selling their older, but serviceable gear

Before I got my Nikon D300, I shot with a Fuji S700. Great camera! When I got it about it 4 years ago, it was around $200. This link is for a more updated Fuji Finepix. Mine is only 7mp, so I'm pretty sure this would be a very nice beginners camera. It has many manual setting options, as well as several pre-set automatic settings.

if you go to my posting entitled backroad bumblin' where there are several pictures posted of barns and landscape, every one of those pictures were taken with this fuji p&s I speak of. Best of luck in your shopping and photo adventures! And welcome to the forum. I've been here one day and really enjoying what I see!

Hi Lisa: My suggestion would be if your camera lens is still good and he didn't ruin that, purchase from Buy.com or Amazon or one of the other sites a used camera body. You can even call Canon to see if they sell refurbished camera bodies. Well I guess I am assuming you had a DSLR or SLR to begin with? If not, you probably can buy a point and shoot for $150.00 but I'd save up to buy a DSLR. Hope this helps. Good luck. Cheryl

I just bought a Canon A3300 Power Shot and I love it. I recommend purchasing at least 16GB Scandisk Extreme Memory Card.

there is an old saying--"don't put all your eggs in one basket"..if you need extreme storage space, get 2or three of the 4 or 6 GB sticks.if you loose/break one,you haven't lost all..plus less moola..--joe
