Is this lens worth the money???
Are you referring to the kit lens? It is only 3.5 not 2.8. Yes I have used it and find it adequate for my needs and it does not blow $$$.

There’s a little known online service called Google .....

Acoarst not.
But since when has that been how we judge the value of fast lenses ?

Your money or mine?
It would probably depend on what you will use it for and how often you will use it.
A bit more information might get you some reasonable advice.

The OP is referring to the 16-55 2.8 G lens - retails approx $1,300.
I haven't used the 2.8 G. Like cyclespeed I have the 16-55 kit lens. I use it mostly with my A6000 when I just want something I can carry in a jacket pocket. I find the 16-55 zoom range a little annoying. I suppose the 2.8 might make it a nice portrait option, but the 3.5 aperture is fast enough for me. I find the 18-105 f4 G is my most used lens by far.

I have the Sony A7111, I waited for Tamron to come out with a 17-28 F2.8 for Sony.
I am really happy with the lens and much less than the Sony brand wide angle.
If there's any way you can scrounge up that extra $1,000 more than the kit lens, you'll be glad you did!

Yes, it truly is a situation where you GET what you pay for.
I don’t have the lens, but have read that it’s pretty amazing. One thing to be aware of if your camera does not have IBIS (a600, a6100, a6300, and a6400) is that the lens is not stabilized. Check out Arthur R on YouTube. He does great reviews and I know he reviewed this lens not too long after it came out last year! Good luck!
