All the close-up flowers images were taken with a Nikon 105VR, handheld, in shade or cloudy conditions. My data wouldn't help you as each lens and camera reacts differently. Learn what your camera can do by taking hundreds of pictures. It's called practicing.

best answer i've seen regarding data and the uniqueness of each camera and each lens

I guess my philosophy is the same for flowers as it is for people...a dirty face, scraggly hair and a large pimple make me disinclined to want to take that picture.

I guess mine is to look beyond the outside appearance and find the beauty within

I am a good person within because I strive to be, but try to photograph that when my hair is a mess and my face is dirty and I would smile at you and injure your camera.   No offense, just my prefference. To each his own.

Topaz offers lots of b&w options. If you aren't familiar with Topaz, do an internet search.

I don't photograph people either, unless it's family. I have always felt that people do best what they LIKE to do and I simply don't like to shoot people, so I'm not good at it. I do feel that most of us know a great portrait when we see one though. Makes me so envious!!!
PS: if flowers are messy, they can't hurt you or your camera.

It's OK to have some fun with your flower pictures. Add filters and odd perspectives. The only thing I would stay away from is adding frames. There just is no way you can duplicate the work of a professional framer and it takes away from your image. A frame is meant to augment, not dominate.

Cone flowers will always be among my favorite subjects. A little filter fun and these were ready to be printed on canvas.

It's been a long time since I added a tip...

This spider lily was shot with a Nikon Coolpix P950. If you have arthritis, joint pain, torn rotator cuff, this is the camera for you.
