Finally, we have a valid reason to buy more gear.
You nailed it Jerry. Sad part is the same rules apply to sports.
Every time I think my golf game is getting worse (which it is) I buy a new putter. It helps my game until my check clears :-))

GAS attacks affect people in all walks of life. Kept under control it can be a good thing. If out of control it affects finances, relationships and efforts to improve with what you already have.
As a retired musician and hack amateur photographer I love this!

For some people .... perhaps.
Others of us just continue working with the same gear unless they make a change that matters to us.
Speaking for myself more gear is expanding my field of photography into areas not achievable with the basics needed to be a "good" photographer - camera, 1 or 2 lens, flash and tripod- my resent GAS attack has been brought on by my move into Macro photography - the $$s spent have not been bankrupting with the help of Amazon and used 50 mm macro lens from a fellow UHH member.
I recently had a major GAS attack that was brought on by the virus. Living in New York, I have seen some of my clients get the virus and some of them have passed. Am an accountant with my own practice for the last forty years and am 71. I previously have not bought any camera gear for the last two years. Shoot with the Sony A9 and 7riii. The one lens I have wanted since it came out, is the Sony 400 f2.8. I primarily take wildlife pictures and travel at least three times a years with my gear. I spent days feeling guilty about buying such an expensive lens. Could not bring myself to do it. Then a client passed from the virus and I bought it. Have been using it around my home and am amazed by it. Life is precious and you need to grab it while you can.

I hope you make good use of this lens.
I know I will. I have made five trips to Africa and canβt wait to use it there. The more I use it, the less guilt I have. Thanks. Stay Safe

Need vs want. Some need it, others want it. If you can afford it need and want are basically the same.
