I just got my Canon T3i and Im absolutely new to photography. I enjoyed taking pictures so much with cheap digital cameras that I had to upgrade to a DSLR. hopefully I can read some of the post and learn some cool stuff.

Read the manual and have the camera next to you when you do.

Hi Art, welcome to the hog. The best way to find out things, is to ask questions. but even that is secondary to using the camera. At first, put on full auto, and just shoot. That way you will get used to the camera. Now, forget the manual, and go to a book store and get a book that tells you in plain english how to use your T3i there are a lot. Then experiment........in manual mode. its just like when you used a film camera, only you have to press few more buttons......

Welcome to the hog. If the manual gets to confusing, go on to you tube and put "tutorial for" and your camera model. Canon has a whole series of tutorials. I know I used it when I upgraded, very clear and helpful
