Monument Vally 30 Years ago.
These are wonderful, Mike. Particularly the closeups of the lady on the horse and the one after, at least to me.
Great set Mike. Very colorful. I love the portraits.
Beautiful set, Mike. The last shot reminds me of the western movies I watched and enjoyed while growing up.

This was my first trip to the Valley, no crowds, it was nice.
Is that last image a composite? It is superb and outstanding

Was in that area in the early 90's. Bought a Stetson from Dennie's Wigwam in 1990. Returned this past Autumn and what a difference. Be glad that you got to see it before the crowds and commercializion that is present today. I was also at Upper Antelope Canyon with Bill Fortney of " Great American Workshops" I can't imagine being shoulder to shoulder as has been described by some today.
Thank you very very much. I know what you are taking about, I went there at least 5 times since then, it sure changed.

Loved number 4 . . . the beautiful portrait of the Navajo lady, reminds me of the Steve McCurry's 1985 photo of the Afghan girl. Monument valley is unbelievable . . . you can't feel the enormity unless you've been there. Great series.
Thank you very very much Rich.
Great photos, appreciate you sharing from your archive.
I'd like to go again, even with the crowds. But our growing population tends to overwhelm many 'classic' sites with visitors making a check mark on their bucket list. My first visit was without camera, age 5, in 1954. My last in the 1980's. Just not enough time!
Mike, among all of your wonderful posts, this series ranks near the top. Why did you make us wait 30 years to see these images?
