Been using this free program for a couple years. There has to be some level of contrast between the subject wanting to be isolated and the background. Here is a photo that had a background of green leaves with one a similar intensity as the pedals. Certainly easy to remove that one leaf instead of going around the whole border of the flower. Nice to be able to choose the background color too.

There was a question today about how to create a black background. I'm sure it depends on the software used but with Photoshop there are many ways to do it. I normally do it by painting in the black background using a levels layer black mask. No matter how you do it, if you have a lot of fine detail to work around it will take some time. I did all of these flowers this past week. The last shot's background is my living room carpet with a vignette added. Nikon D810, Sigma 105MM, f/2.8, on a tripod. Your thoughts/comments are always read and appreciated.

They are ALL quite tastefully done and the last image is wonderful. The 105mm is one of my favorite focal lengths.
