I was surprised when I looked at this and saw a some kind of bug on the right flower.

I took a good, close look at it and I believe you are correct. Looks like a bug to me!

I to looked up close and tight. Yes, there is a bug on the right "flower" as it appears to have wings.
HOWEVER, i have never seen a "ball" inside the flower!!

And as it will turnout today, I am spraying for just such "flowers" in my yard and behind my fence too!
Pests, all three of them!
Down with them!! Down with them!!

Fun when you get surprised like that. Anyone know what the little white ball is?

Simply another Dandelion seedhead (minus the seeds) that is behind the one with the insect. If you look behind the "stalk" of the one in question, you will see the "stalk" that leads to that spent seed head...

Dandelions feed bees. They have redeeming features.
They also provide you with nice yellow flowers for free. No maintenance required.

When, and by whom, were dandelions, clover and several other plants transferred to the weed category? Lawn Doctor, or some other "pickpocket"?

It’s a shame that so many turn to spraying herbicides and pesticides instead of using more economically friendly solutions.

But economically fits, too.
