I have some tools that my Dad gave me about sixty years ago, seems like last week. I stored them in my shed and they've rusted so they are nearly unusable. Vinegar doesn't touch them. I would like to try this. Would you tell me step by step in VERY lay men's language how to set it up?

YouTube has videos on how to do rust removal using electrolysis

Apparently you didn't read all of the thread where I suggested YouTube to Tramsey.
And his response.

I have one of these ratchets that my dad gave me. The rivets holding mine together are brass, I still use it, works as it should.

Snap-on makes excellent tools as generations of mechanics can attest. If have both Snap on and early Craftsman mechanic tools that I have literally had and used for about 50 years. Does anyone remember Mickey Thompson tools from the 60s? If I remember correctly, they were blue.

Hopefully I will remember to continue to photograph each step.

As I recall, Snap-on tools carry a lifetime warranty, but on the other hand, if your tool suffered from years of neglect and proper care then most likely Snap-on will be exonerated for not honoring that warranty. My wife says she wishes one of my tools,,, well, best I not go there.
