Thank you Cindy ... I wish we'd been able to get closer & had a bit softer light, but the Cheetahs were definitely a high point of the trip. I appreciate the visit & comment.

I'm now getting to the animals that really got my heart rate up during a recent trip to Kenya. This post is the 1st of 3 posts I plan to do on big cats ... this 1st one is on Cheetahs. We actually got to watch a female Cheetah with 4 small cubs for +/- 45 minutes. What a treat ... & while she did keep her eye on us, she did not mind the 5 Landcruisers with photographers being there. Unfortunately, they were a long distance away, often in relatively high grass (as Keith ... RetiredCPO ... suggested in an earlier post, we were disappointed they didn't mow the grass before we got there!!!). We came across them under a cloudless, bright sunlit sky & the combination of harsh sunlight & hard shadows were really a challenge for me.
These shots were taken on the Ol Pejeta Conservancy, which is approximately a 4 hour drive due North of Nairobi, Kenya. Keith & I had a great guide who did a wonderful job. They were all captured with a Canon 5dIV & an EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 L II USM lens with a 1.4x extender.

Thanks Dennis ... it was a fun trip & I wasn't sure I'd ever get there either. In fact, there was an older woman along who had some mobility issues, & she made it. So never say never.
Hope this finds you well & staying safe & virus free.
Best.

I also had mobility issues with my trip last September, but the tour staff and other tourists gave assistance and I made it OK.

We're doing well Frank, thanks; I hope you are too.
My wife has no desire to go to Africa, so I won't be going. Neither of us have mobility issues (yet anyway). Assuming it is safe to travel in the future, we've got plenty of places to go. We were supposed to be flying to Milan at the end of the month for 2 days in Lake Como, a day in Verona, then boarding a Viking cruise in Venice for two weeks, ending in Barcelona. Of course that got cancelled. We took them up on their offer of a 125% cruise voucher. We now have the same cruise booked in 2022, but starting in Barcelona. We added 2 days in Barcelona, 2 in Venice (plus the day and night there when we arrive), then we have a free day and then 3 days in Lake Como as a pre-cruise before we get on a Viking river cruise from Basel to Amsterdam with 2 extra days there. We got the whole thing for just a little more than the river cruise fare for one of us. I suspect it will be OK to travel by then, but if not, we can cancel as late as 24 hours before our flight and get a full voucher to be booked within 2 years. We are also seriously considering a Viking cruise from Buenos Aires to Santiago in 2023 or 2024. We go to Hawaii at least every other year (we own a timeshare in Kauai), we want to go back to the Canadian Rockies, it looks like we're on a schedule of every 3 years to Charleston, we want to do a fall colors trip to New England, an Alaska cruise and another trip to the most beautiful country we've ever been to: Norway. We also want to go back to Italy and France and we have an annual trip to Oregon in July. So many places to go...................
Stay well,
Dennis
Thanks Dennis ... glad to hear all that ... sounds like you have a great bucket list ... good for you. I hope things evolve so you get to take those trips. Be well. F
And thanks for the comment David. Best to you as well.
