Keep in mind, wearing a mask (not a medical KN95 mask) outside the house is to protect OTHER people, not us. Sooooo if everyone around us practice that, other people's mask would help protect us.

Now, to what degree? Hold a handkerchief in front of your mouth and cough, note that the fabric will be moist. That is how even a single layer fabric can restrict the flow, from our mouth, out into the atmosphere. Thousands of single layer mask are made by wonderful people, and given to other usually for free.

Now, would two layers be better than one? I think you already know the general answer to that question. If you look closely to online seller of mask, you see the popular mask will have three layer. It is all for the protection of people around us. AND, if all of 'those other people' practiced this, we would be better for it.

If our campus is open to in-class teaching, I will be wearing a 3-layer mask. I'll also try my best to stay 8 to 10 feet away from my students.

Look up annual number of deaths by cause. These are charts on the Internet, and I find them interesting especially if you do the math connected to these and compare to Covid-19.

Some of the opinionated responses here, are not really a part of sharing rhetoric, which has a rich history dating back to ancient Greece.

Putting people down, being snide, is not supposed to be part of educated communication. That is mainly what talking heads do in mass media. The viciousness of attacks on anyone with a divergent point of view should be an alarming indicator. The office of the President no matter who you voted for, should be respected. Actually its not just that, it's having respect for others in general while allowing different views. It does not matter if something thinks differently, the whole point is to share views to raise awareness.

To use annual death rates by various causes you need to remember to factor in an extrapolated number of deaths from SERS cov 2 to an annual number. For example the current n UK number of covid 19 deaths in the USA is approx 89, 754 in approx a 2 month time. That would be 538, 524 if unabated. Meaning no new treatments. Failure to socially distance. Mask use or not and so on. The death rate from cardiovascular disease is averaged 610K a year. That makes covid 19 pretty nasty. This is a very simplified approach but you see why I feel respect for the health of others vs the "rugged individualist " approach.....also known as the " dont tell ME what to do" is the appropriate way to go. As an aside, I respect the rights of others when they are reasoned. Not influenced by either the trump can walk on water or the trump can do no good attitude. When I see those I do indeed roll my eyes and sometimes fire up my mouth

I do not want to go into full battle over this topic. My main point is that the media in general is not known for it's facts and proof of facts with an actual reference, table, provable statistics, etc. Instead there is constant flux and angry rhetoric that clouds the information. All I want is real information. I understand you being frustrated or disagree with people but acting superior is not the way to go forward. I know it is hard but this comes down to basic rights and decency. I hate seeing speakers screamed off of stages at colleges which are supposed to be houses of advanced learning. Screaming is the end result of a higher education? Yikes, we are in trouble. I want facts by numerous sources. I want actual discussion of the FACTS that can be proven. Much of the media produces opinion, false facts, with no actual trail of information and verifiable data!

This lock down has severe financial consequences and sets a dangerous precedent in many aspects of life in the United States. I worry about our freedoms... Already there have been hints in the media that flu season is around the corner... Is that a threat of a repeat? Would a second lockdown cause financial collapse? It could if we are printing money like mad to support people who have lost their jobs...

I have to get off my soap box. I made my various points. Respect for others even if it appears they are wrong is a true sign of dignity.

The video of Dr. Lozano is a classic example of good old American snake oil salesmen, or in this case, saleswoman.
In short, she treated many patients that she diagnosed as having Covid-19 -- without benefit of any diagnostic test -- by giving them hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin, plus a few "shots in the butt." She says that her patients got better.
She offers this as proof that hydroxychloroquine cures Covid-19.
Without proof that any of them had Covid-19.
Without any way to know if the "shots in the butt" actually cured their respiratory ailment, whatever it was.
Her presentation is full of so many flaws of logic and scientific proof, but panders to her audience, those who want to believe and those looking for a conspiratorial skeleton in every closet.
