There has not been a good controlled study, and there are risk of cardiac arrythmias leading to death with the hydroxychloroquine. The study out of Brazil was not really very good. So what do REAL scientists do - instead of playing politics? They DO A STUDY!

I suspect there more are medically-trained folks here than you think. The last comments by Bazbo, sb and me are scientifically based. There are certain standards of proof which must be met before a medication is proven to be effective. BTW I am a physician.

In the video you reference: Dr. Lozano's experience is promising.
1. She used hydroxychloroquine before patients were sick enough to require hospitalization, in contrast to the VA study which showed harm rather than benefit.
2. Dr. Lozano's patients were younger - she said between 30 and 55 - so not in the high risk group and not prone to severe illness.
3. Unfortunately, she did not test the patients for Covid-19, and therefore does not know if they actually had Covid-19. Recall that when testing was limited to patients with respiratory symptoms, only 10-20% actually tested positive for Covid-19 because they actually had some other illness.
4. Therefore Dr. Lozano does not know if was hydroxychloroquine or the "shots in the butt" she gave them which made them well.
So her data is interesting, worth noting, worth exploring further, but not scientific, reliable evidence.

Just because it has been around for a long period of time does not make it an appropriate treatment for folks with Covid 19 infections.
As noted, testing is being carried out and needs to be done in consistent, scientific ways.

I did see an article today that indicated more deaths are being reported where this drug has been used. I do not have the actual article available at the moment to cite.

We all have a hope that something develops soon.
