It is. It takes longer to read the scrambled words than those spelled correctly.

Thanks for the affirmation. I was afraid all my elementary school spelling bee victories had been for naught😊

So why is correct spelling such a big deal in elementary school? I was always a good speller, and got lots of praise and recognition for it . . . . now all that seems to be such a waste of effort

looks like the start of a term paper by one of today's students who hasn't mastered spell check

The minds ability is remarkable. In the late 60's I took a different type of speed reading class (not Evelyn Wood). The average adult reads about 320 words per minute. The instructor in the 5 person class I was in challenged us to teach our brain to view letters as symbols. So my goal was to learn to read a newspaper, book, or anything written....up side down. In 6 months, when the class ended, my reading speed was 890 wpm with a 95.6% comprehension. My reading speed upside down was 427 wpm....faster than the average adult read right side up. I'm 71 and still practice reading in both directions.

Many years ago, i recall reading a short story that was written this way by a college student friend of mine majoring in Cognitive Psychology. At first it seemed strange, but after a page or so, it was like reading any other text. Same with what was posted here. No issues reading it. Kind of cool though.

I have certainly encountered writing, sometimes on this forum, in which the grammar or spelling errors made it impossible for me to understand.
