I'm looking at a few boxes of type 52 in unopened, original, boxes, inside a cardboard shipping crate. Expiration date is 1978. No word on refrigeration. What do you think? $200.00 for 10 boxes of 20 films each, black and white, but, being a Polaroid creative consultant, I'm sure you know that. I have the 545 back and the 4x5 camera as well. I thank you and respect your opinion.

Could be fine or could be crap. My suggestion is to contact the source and if they are willing, open the shipping case and send you one of the silver covered 'boxes' of the Type 52. Test it to see that it is still working, it may or may not work and because of age the speed will probably be increased by 1/3 to 1/2 stop.
also, once opened and the 545 holder you should use that pack of film quickly (days) as it's life out of the package is severely shortened.

Last, if this is the older Type 52, it may come with coaters. If you like the image as is with out the coated effect, you can run the prints through a toner, like Kodak Selenium Toner. If so, it will have a warm brown/sepia tone. Add a small (tea spoon to a quart solution of selenium to control the tone, a 1 to 8 dilution where the 1 is concentrated selenium toner). For a neutral tone use the old 'Blue Toner' formula (Photographer's Formulary is an excellent source).

52 paper prints will curl up in water, pin the print dry to a stiff board, or use rubber bands with cut sheets of glass or Plexiglas. Was in tap water.

What a waste of time, why would anybody care. Spend your time and money feeding hungry children. These are very serious times. Don’t waste it on frivolous projects

Under what authority are you pretending to be qualified to tell others how to spend their time and money?

Hey RWR, there is a rule that is universal for the internet, never, ever, feed the trolls! Please be aware of this and react accordingly, it never ever ends in any thing but a train wreck.

Report the troll to the administrators and let them take action to rid the place of trolls, that is the great thing about administrators.
