Love the creativity
I think that's exactly what's missing, I do not like it because it lacks creativity!
The composition has grown on me since this morning - some of the comments pushed me to look at the image more critically. The key piece is the dinosaur. I think you placed it in the perfect spot:
1. It's shape works very well with the triangular space under the shoe.
2. It's looking toward the intersection of the shoe and apple - expressing curiosity? anticipation? wonder?
3. It directs us to look at its point of focus - it acts to direct the eye into the scene.
4. I directs us to ask questions of the image. Why are the apple and shoe in this position? What is the intended scale - a tiny dinosaur against regular objects or regular dinosaur against immense objects? How/Why is the dinosaur there? Where is my other shoe? (answered above ;-)
I really like the photo. I consider it more "art" than any abstract painting and a lot of sculpture since the 70's.
I like it too. Don't forget to wash the apple before you eat it.

Or to those of you without children who don't need a special day to be happy.
A lot of sole in this image.
I suggest that you might want to add a little cinnamon to spice up your applesaurus.
