thisI moved to the North East 30 years ago and one of the first things I did here was go with a friend to see Les Mis on Broadway. I was so moved I told my wife about it (she and my girls were still in Charleston, SC and I was house hunting while working here). I told her I wanted to see it again and she questioned why I wouldn't want to see one of the other big shows like Phantom. I told her Les Mis was the greatest thing I had ever seen on stage live or on the big screen. Well a couple of years after the family moved up we went to see Phantom. It was also excellent but did not displace my feelings about Les Mis. A couple years later my wife and daughters went to see it and the first thing my wife said when they got back was "wow, I would like to see that again"! I was sorry to see it leave Broadway and if it returns, I will go back.

Some people would say just the opposite.
Excellent!!
What it needed to make Superior would have made the instruments about 30 Db down to hear the lyrics.
What my brother has said, and I whole heartedly agree to, "if the instruments overpower the vocals, the vocalists are bad."
Were one to go back to the older stages shows and movies, one could 'hear' the lyrics withOUT being overpowered by the orchestra or the band. Maybe it is because of my hearing loss, but I can still hear lyrics of South Pacific, West Side Story, Oklahoma, State Fair and further back today.
The younger generation who love the noises coming the groups who call themselves singers, are only shouting over their instruments. Can't stand it.
Can't go to movies as the sound is too high. Wait till it come to tv, cancel the bass, increase treble, then I might be able to listen. NO, I won't use closed caption 'cause I want to see the movie. I read books/Kindle to read.
Sorry for the rant.

I agree about the volume of the movies. Went to see Dunkirk . OK movie, but came out shell shocked.
If you find me seizing, just turn off the country music. The seizure will stop immediately.

Not too sure if Willie ever did but I just watched his son Lucas sing it. Did a google search to find it. Close your eyes and you can hear the family traits.
Mozart, Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs, Janis Joplin, Bach, Beatles, Willie Nelson, Beethoven, Jimmy Hendrix, Rolling stones, anything with a harpsichord..... I could go on and on. But 2 people yelling into each other's face, not so much.

I have much of the same problem with hearing...but my hearing is so bad I use closed caption. Wanted to watch a movie on Netflix...but it didn't have captions...so I watched something else....very aggravating! The worst, for me, is the radio with announcements and they have background music on so loud, I can't hear the announcements! I called the radio station and they turned it off...for about a day...and they turned in on again. Sigh.
