You are correct. In my 40+ years of washing I've always sorted my clothes in separate hampers and put them the washer by hand. This was my very first time dumping the basket and doing it in dim light.

To really test the lens, ditch the teleconverter. If these lenses are modern electrical connection lenses (older mech. lenses are much easier to deal with for this issue); Down the road my concerns would be;

Fungus...do everything you can to make sure the lens is completely dry - rice/gel-pack/sit near a de-humidifier/AirCon outlet, use a UV-C light generously with caps off, sit it out in the sunshine if you don't have a UV-C light, use the sun (both will kill off mold/fungus) and help with internal drying. If you can safely take off the front element/glass, that will make the drying process work even better, just do it in a clean environment.

Wet Ribbon Cable/PC board contacts - these may take longer to dry out, and the moisture would rear it's ugly head later, bad connections, connection degradation, functional failures. I have been inside lenses that have taken a dip, and if everything comes together the wrong way, you end up with junk.

Rust, it never sleeps and will also degrade functionality over time. On the testing, try to compare to old photos with same gear, similar subject situation. Overall, YOU have to decide on all this, if the lenses have great value, then consider a trip to Canon, if cost effective.

That's almost funny. I didn't read all the replies, but I wonder if anyone suggested you should have run them through the dryer.

I would open up everything as much as possible, even removing screws. Let everything dry, and then see if everything works okay. If it works, it works.

I saw water inside of the lenses after I removed them from the washer. The lenses were also foggy. I had no choice but use rice until my order of silica gel can in days later. When the gel came in the lens water and fog were gone.

Send it off for complete disassembly and CLA.

You are going to have mold and corrosion problems, if you don’t.

If not the glass, then the electronics or the mechanicals.

I'm still trying to figure out how you managed to dump all that equipment in the washing machine without noticing. Don't you have to move the clothes around a bit in the washer to get an even load? Wouldn't you feel that heavy lens and the other equipment? My 180mm, f/2.8 is pretty heavy. I imagine your 200mm is even heavier. The whole story stretches my ability to believe.

Call Canon. A cleaning may cost somewhere in the range of $ 250-350, judging by my use of their services.
