One of the interesting things is, Amazon was swamped with their own inadequate system of delivery so they started a deal with the USPS. That has put a lot of pressure on the USPS to keep up. The benefit is not to you but rather the increased bottom line of potential profit for the USPS.
A business system decision.

The USPS is a non-profit entity.

Yes I know, but they have such a massive debt they need to recover and this is one of the ways they will try.

I ordered two hats for this summer on the first of April they are supposed to arrive May 15! You have to be careful these days and see where the stuff is coming from. I am still waiting for the adjustable glasses that I ordered in Feb. they are still in China! Lesson learned check before buying the source.

Folks it seems that Amazon Prime has spoiled us a bit and we often now expect next day or second day deliver of almost everything. It is an unreasonable expectation.

We can all point to instances of poor service, and not just the USPS service but across all lines of business. (for example, Nikon, Canon, etc all offer refurbished bodies and lenses...ever think why? Because there was an issue with the item brand new and was returned).

I know that I frequently send cards in the mail that arrive in other time zones within two days. I think that's darn good service.

So my two cents is, take a deep breath, relax or pay extra for quick delivery.

I find the USPS the most reliable and fastest of todays delivery services. They used to be the worst. I find that packages arrive earlier than scheduled most of the time. FedEx is by far the worst in my neck of the woods.

I ordered Scott Kelby's latest books, numbers 4 and 5, on April 13, along with a piece for mounting a GoPro (knockoff) video camera to my motorcycle. It has not yet shipped and it is projected for delivery May 11. Then yesterday I ordered replacement headlights for my bike and they are scheduled for delivery May 22. Also ordered, a frame for a photo of The Devil's Toweer which I took and had enlarged. It was odered April 26 and originally scheduled for arrival May 4 - 6. I had a message from the seller yesterday that due to unforseen and weather circumstances, it will not be shipped before May 7. It's like a crap shoot for delivery.

I have used the USPS for over 50 years and hardly had any problems with letters or shipping packages to customers from my business....Today anyone working is a Hero and should be treated with the utmost Respect and Consideration, I just mailed out 50 to 60 packages to Families all over the United States in the last month and all but one got there safely and speedily,,,the one that did not I had the wrong address on it and the package was returned to me...I boycott Amazon, and WalMart and BP and Exon, but in my experience delays in getting merchandise has almost always about being back ordered or delayed by the Seller not the Shipper...By the Way those 50 to 60 packages mailed by the USPS cost me $5 a package where UPS wanted $15 a package....If We ever Lose the USPS, one of the Largest Employers of Veterans in the US, and the cheapest shipper, You will then Really have something to Complain about....

airplanes with people aren't flying but mail is flying OK Howie

Most airplanes with people are mandated by the government to carry at least some usmail, if they are using us funded airports. And it happens to amount to a LOT of the mail, even intra-state mail. So that and limited WORKERS, are the slow- down. If you don’t believe it , JUST ASK ME!!....RJM

Mr Trump has already stated he will oppose more federal funding for USPS - which they badly need since they are close to bankruptcy - unless they get more money from Amazon packages.

Conservatives goal is to privatize the USPS, and of course starving it into “bankruptcy” will facilitate that. Also Trump wants to put the screws to Bezos because the Washington Post cuts Trump no slack in their reporting.

I ordered N95 masks from National Medical Supply on March 30th. They're still not here! They sent me a tracking number (DHL, handed off to USPS), current tracking shows it delivered. The problem is, it was delivered to an address in Trussville, AL. I live in Cape Coral, FL. USPS says the address on the package label was in Trussville, AL. I've contacted the seller several times, and get nothing but the runaround, so I've opened a case with PayPal. If that doesn't work, I guess the next step would be to contact my lawyer.
I ordered N95 masks from National Medical Supply o... (show quote)

If your confirmed address with paypal is correct, they should issue a refund pronto... been there...

I ordered some wood today from a local source for my other hobby (woodworking), I have a delivery date of May 20th. Two weeks (and about $10.00) when it is a 40 minute drive (or less) from my house to the vendor. Oh, to be able to drive...

i can feel your pain. i ordered some new compression gloves and socks. They were from an outside supplier. Amazon said the delivery would be about a week. I get the delay. It's hard times. Well, I was really worried when an unmarked white van pulled up in front of my driveway. I thought it might be the county coroner. I was busy trying to find my pulse, when i heard a box hit my porch. Much to my surprise, I received my order 3 days early. I can't go anywhere, but I feel much better in my misery.
