I ordered a hat, and it's going to take at least ten days to get here. Looking back at the order on Amazon, I see it's sold and delivered by "Snailman." Really! I guess that explains the slow delivery.

I’ve noticed lately, at least in my case, Amazon is increasingly using USPS for delivery. I always cringe when I see this. Not a good experience. I currently am awaiting some filters ordered on Amazon. Shipped from New Jersey, where they want back and forth for several days. They have now made it to Michigan, where they have been circling between two cities for days. Was supposed to be delivered yesterday. NOPE! I’m getting madder just thinking about it.

I talked to my Post Lady yesterday. She said that the Post Office was "swamped" with Amazon packages

Not just Amazon, I made a purchase from eBay that advertised guaranteed by March 20, when I received my purchase acknowledgment it stated estimated arrival March 28.

I’m sure that they are swamped, but that is not a good reason for a recent package to sit in a suburban Chicago post office for a full week before moving on.

Here where I live for the last few years when the number of packages gets too much for the regular delivery drivers/trucks there is an older guy - I assume retired from USPS, UPS or FedEx who shows up driving one of the large 8 passenger street legal golf carts with netting to keep the packages from falling off and maybe a ball cap with the logo of one of those three who goes up and down our local streets dropping off packages. He is careful with packages, actually walking up and sitting them down instead of the Pro-Football wanna bees who loft them from the sidewalk etc. My wife says that once on the way to go shopping she saw him getting a reload from a FedEx and USPS trucks on a main street nearby.
Also here in our area certain sizes of step vans etc are totally cleared out of the local rental places when the volume is high and we see them being driven by UPS, Amazon Smile and FedEx people in their uniforms.

Patience is needed in these times. Amazon has product in distribution locations all across the country, and I have no doubt that their algorithms calculate for every delivery the fastest way for your package to arrive and select the carrier accordingly. Fact of the matter is that ALL delivery services are overwhelmed by the surge in on-line ordering. We have discussed the issue of Amazon prioritization in previous threads.

Hi if the seller ships priority one it arrives in 2 to 3 days what the problem is most of the time the seller doesn't get the package to the post office the same day the sale is made , I have been selling on ebay and amazon for years and do not wait for the post man to take the package off my porch that takes a extra day the package has to get to the post office when the post man gets done with work ( I live in st pete fl and if I take the package to the post office and track it after supper it usually is in Tampa's airport. Also I did work for UPS back in the 1960's and when stuff was unloaded the truck bring in the packages looked as if it was loaded with a back ho and when I had a package to go to Hawaii the cost compared to USPS was almost double I ship USPS Priority one the package is in transit a shorter time so it is less likely to be damaged, Howie1a

I ordered N95 masks from National Medical Supply on March 30th. They're still not here! They sent me a tracking number (DHL, handed off to USPS), current tracking shows it delivered. The problem is, it was delivered to an address in Trussville, AL. I live in Cape Coral, FL. USPS says the address on the package label was in Trussville, AL. I've contacted the seller several times, and get nothing but the runaround, so I've opened a case with PayPal. If that doesn't work, I guess the next step would be to contact my lawyer.

Think it’s bad now? Wait till the USPS runs dry of funds. The other carriers aren’t up to the task.

One of the interesting things is, Amazon was swamped with their own inadequate system of delivery so they started a deal with the USPS. That has put a lot of pressure on the USPS to keep up. The benefit is not to you but rather the increased bottom line of potential profit for the USPS.
A business system decision.
