Sharkbite fittings for 1/2" copper

I want to change the hot / cold faucets that supply my clothes washer.

I've cut a hole on backside, which is an exterior storage room,
and will make a door for easy access.

Thinking of installing 1/4 turn sharkbite fittings in the middle of the supply lines,
which would make it easy to turn off water if needed.

Use similar for the faucets, though they have the 3/4 hose connection at a 90 deg.

Any of you have experience with these fittings ?

Your going about it just fine. I would install a faucet with supplies that face straight down. Better yet buy a complete unit that has the plastic housing with a single shut off lever that turns off both hot & cold. I have used Sharkbites for years with no problems. The ends of pipe must be cut square and free of any burrs. On copper we use some abrasive cloth to smooth & polish the pipe end. On the back side where the new valves are installed use a plastic access panel (available at HD or Lowe’s). PM me if you have questions.

Thanks Dave

My only question is the smoothing or polishing part ... do I need to get it shiny as if it would be soldered ?

I do. I’m a remodeling contractor. Look at the Shark Bite. Little SS fingers grab the pipe and “o rings” make the seal. It’s really not polishing - more like removing any contaminates. We use the abrasive Oatey abrasive open mesh.
