Focus Stacking/Photoshop CS6 Question

Hello,

I have a question about focus stacking in Photoshop CS6.

I download my RAW files into Adobe Camera Raw where I begin my editing process. Once done, I move the images into Photoshop

When done in ACR, I press the OPEN key in order to move the images from ACR directly into Photoshop. Once there, I go to FILE, select SCRIPTS and then choose LOAD FILES INTO STACK.

Suddenly this all changed.

Now after working in ACR and moving into Photoshop and then go to FILE and select SCRIPTS, I get a box that reads (from top to bottom) Delete All Empty Layers, Flatten All Layer Effects, Flatten All Masks, Layer Comps to WPG and (at the bottom) Browse.

This is not what I want.

I suspect I inadvertently brushed several keys; that said, I would like to be able to go back to the FILE – SCRIPTS – LOAD FILES INTO STACK sequence in order to focus stack my images.

How do I do this?

Your suggestions, comments, and/or instruction would be most appreciated.

Thank you.

I believe you want to select Automate. From that menu select Photomerge.

Sorry to bother you, Bob.

I did click on Automate. What I got was a box with the headings Batch, PDF Presentation, Create Droplet, etc., but no Photomerge. What am I missing?

Thanks.

Is there a checkbox that says something like "include open files?" I don't use your version so I'm just taking a shot at it.

I have looked all over and have yet to find a checkbox with something about "include open files." Thank you for taking the time to reply.

You may have changed something in the menu system. Click on Edit then Menus. Once Your in there you can choose what shows up. That said Bob is right when he wrote Automate is the menu item you should be using. It is the option to make panos and focus stack.

It's still the same, do it while still in ACR and click on >tools< , Photoshop- load files into layers, or similar then you get to choose, stacking, panorama etc. and you good to go!

Photoshop does a fair job at best for this. Third Party alternatives are better.

Thank you. I am curious: Could you recommend 3 such alternatives to PS6?

Helicon Focus. Forget PS for this.

I've tried both and didn't see any difference in the outcome. PS costs nothing to use this feature.

Whatever works for you. I've had several cases where PS failed miserably and Helicon Focus came through brilliantly.
