Is it a May or a June Bug..?

This one has a strange story. I let the dogs out for the last time before midnight last night and I noticed that two June Bugs were attracted by the flood light. Oh Boy..! The first that I've seen this year.

One of them flew into the wall of the house and fell on the ground and one of our dogs snarfed it up in a flash. I ran down the steps for an intervention however it was too late. It was gone.

When I came back in one of the dogs that had yet to go out was going crazy running around with "something". I chased after him and found that the other June Bug had gotten into the house and the dog had it.

After a brief, "Catch Me If You Can", I was able to get the June Bug away from him and I staged it for a focus stacking session and this is it.

LOL The dog eat bug ruckus sounds familiar, Sippy, and I remember reading about the woman who somehow got a June bug in her ear. Yikes! Fantastic shot. I've never seen a June bug this close before and didn't know they were so hairy!

Thanks, Donna. Our family of dogs are a great help...or nuisance. They are very attentive to anything that is in their exercise yard and they've helped me find many insects. I just have to beat them to it at times.

During the summer months I put a white sheet on the fence and shine a work-light on it to attract the nighttime flying insects and my dog "Bud" (a smooth fox terrier) sits out there with me as my unpaid assistant.

Bud is beautiful, and I can see he's very alert. I doubt he misses anything.
