The Tokina 16-28mm for Nikon, Wide-angle Aspherical is a lens designed for what you want to capture. I have this lens and it absolutely does what it's designed to do. You can pull up some videos on Youtube by other photographers that captured real estate and landscapes.

Nikon has a 10-20 mm wide-angle for around $300. I've heard good things about it and I've had good luck with it.
