Thank you flyingb70 but I have no idea what this cactus is called as I have had it for many years. I looked it up in images on Google but everybody labels it 'cactus flower'. There is such a variety of cacti which are spiky and ugly but have the most beautiful flowers.

Yes you are so right.. I have luck with the Christmas Cactus
and they are very nice too. They bloom around Thanksgiving and Christmas but have no smell. I will send a pic of one.

Yes, I have seen that one but didn't know it was called Christmas Cactus. I wonder if it blooms at Christmas in the Southern Hemisphere! Here's another one that I don't know the name of.

I don't know it's name but it is also pretty, the flower looks similar to the one I have raised.

The beautiful fragrance is only for a short time. They can bloom while you're sleeping and in the morning there is no smell and by afternoon they just collapse. I am trying to imagine the size and I would say about 3 inches in diameter.

These flowers are very pretty but just look at them coming out from a chaotic bunch of spiky fingers. Nature is incredible.
