"The short-term danger is that Americans will resist the push from business to get us back on the job and making money for them. Their plan is simple: Starve us out." This from the URL above referenced.

Another garbage article out there that Leftists actually buy! Do the looney Leftists think that we only work because businesses force us to and not because Americans want to? If you remember to turn all their statements back onto them you will understand their true motivations. In this case they are saying, under Socialism like we want, you will be forced to work for our businesses.

It is easy to check sources on any story/post/news online or in print, just takes a little effort. Everyone should do that for anything that appears controversial, or looks as though it was posted to "divide us", or to paint a party or group as evil, or others as too squeaky clean (the truth is rarely that simple), and trolls of all types are numerous.

How this re-open deal will work out remains to be seen. Several countries now in the process of trying to re-open have seen new spikes, and we may/may not see the same, time will tell. Our medical/scientific communities are telling us we may see a general spike later this year, and some states/counties may not yet be near the initial spike for their area (remember some did very little to stem what may be coming for them). It may cause us to alter the way we live, but that too remains to be seen.

Ron Desantis by all I can tell so far, appears to be a decent family man and a decent politician and from what I can tell seems genuine, but he too can make mistakes/misteps along with successes (Note - I am a Florida Resident and Independent/NPA Voter) - meaning I have no party affiliation, I vote for who I consider to be the best candidate, based on performance, not rhetoric. He is not a medical scientist, he is a lawyer/attorney, so he should listen to the medical/scientific community as well as citizens and business owners, and respond in rational ways, as should we all. He is a good public speaker, so he seldom makes huge gaffs, and he "fact checks" fairly well. His other huge challenge now is to fix Florida's Unemployment System/Re-employment System process, the system he inherited from crooked ex-govenor/senator Rick Scott was built to fail, built to underserve, and fail it has, in a most dramatic way.

For Florida, getting through this and the upcoming hurricane season, safely surviving and thriving are goals I support.
It is easy to check sources on any story/post/news... (show quote)

A reasoned response. Much appreciated. I would add that as a scientific researcher, even in this "world" there is continuing conflict, as research methodology varies considerably and the reliability and validity of variables and measurement instruments is constantly being re-evaluated, retested, and accepted or rejected. The life of a scientist is to question, and the results of a study addressing a 'question' will often lead to more questions which need to be further addressed. And 'science' study and what is excepted as a 'truth' varies within different arenas. What is an acceptable outcome in statistical analysis within rocket research may be much different in the study of a disease. And predictions, based on complex assortment of interacting variables, can be quite messy stuff. Such is the nature of science. But relying on science and scientific thinking is much better than making decisions based on 'intuition' or one's 'gut' feelings. This, indeed, is craziness.

Facts are extremely threatening to those who think the Emperor is wearing clothes.

I see them (cheap shot and inflamatory rhetoric) from both sides, no one side has a majority on this. We all have to look at everything and read and check out the data and the facts, best we can, and decide what we feel is truth. I hear great stuff from the right, the left and the MOR's, and I hear some really dumb stuff from the same places too....

In this day of instant visual and audio teleplay, we can all see and hear actions our leaders take, and we can see it on multiple networks and channels/internet and written publications, the live stuff can be viewed on multiple stations/networks at the same time, making it much easier to determine if anyone is "making things up/slanting one way or the other, or if something has been mis-stated, mis-reported.

Statements and news in a situation such as we have should be well written/spoken, measured, rehersed if necessary, and stated carefully. Millions of folks may be hanging on the very words a politician, or med pro, business pro utters....not a time for jokes, or sloppy speaches, rantings/blame games, etc. etc. Time for responsible, carefully preparred, fact infused statements.... no guessing, no postulating, just good solid fact, and any stated facts should have reference as to where/when they originated.

The bigest thing this pandemic has shown me is that a quick, measured response would have served us all much better. We didn't err on the side of safety soon enough. We will (as a population) continue to suffer the tribulations that open international travel and tourism bring to us..... We all (all 50 states/territories) need each other, red states need blue states, blue states need red states, for our system to work (just take a look at the GDP/GNP by US States, to see how). We all need help, we all deserve help, we all need to help, we all need to try our best to get over this and find some semblence of normal again. We all need to be as responsible for ourselves and our actions as we can be. Take action, and be responsible, take care and treat each other well, give the benefit of doubt until you know the truth, then adjust accordingly.

Be safe, take care, respect and help each other, and hope for a normal world again.
