Both photos are excellent. I like the composition of the first better than the second, possibly because I feel like the framing of the pillars in the second detract my attention slightly from the drama of the light on the bridge and the water. The graphic pattern of overhead converging lines is very strong in that image. But I'm pretty sure that's a subjective choice on my part. Both are fantastic photos. I could hang them on a wall and not tire of looking at them. Is the first a crop of the second, or a second photograph (different lens or zoom setting)?

Bridges are funny things. You can drive over one every day, and not notice a photo op. You can hike past it, and appreciate it looks better from the side than when you drive over it, and still maybe not see a photo from there. But sometimes, the real photograph is from underneath, where no one thinks to look. Is there a story to how you found this particular vantage point, or was it immediately obvious to you?

I also love the detail in your photo. I downloaded and enlarged it. There's a half-submerged, half-fallen over post under the bridge way out there. I think there's a bird sitting on it. There's no particular artistic value to it since it's nearly invisible, but I like getting to see it anyway. Perhaps I'm too easily amused.

The second photo's dimensions almost look 4x5 or medium format. Out of curiosity, what medium is this originally, lf or digital?

Thank you all.

They were taken with Sony a77ii and a Minolta 28-135 mm f4.0-4.5.

Different zoom settings. The portrait on is cropped slightly to maximize the symmetry.

We were walking out dogs and it was right around sunrise so the light and the reflections were perfect. Got a little muddy but it was worth it.

Glad to hear you saw the bird on the stump. I saw it as I was framing the shot. Thought it was one of those cool things only I would know

Thanks again
